Open Discussion / Re: Dog-friendly designing?

I had a dog when I was young that howled at the harmonica. It also wagged its tail at the same time, so I don't think that it was in pain. I was told that dogs do that as it is a primal pack instinct to howl when the pack leader (you) howls to gather the pack together for hunting.

That dog hated fireworks though.

Thanks for the heads up, maybe he doesn't hate the harmonica and he's just following suit. He also hates fireworks, and thunder, and bugs, and things in the dark... He has a lot of phobias haha.

Play acoustic? My dog doesn't mind when I play through my pedals and amps as long as it's low volume, he hates the bass and harmonica and loves the acoustic and banjo. Sorry I'm not too much help.

I haven't exactly modified anything up to this point (about 12 builds deep), so I am curious how one would go about putting those caps on a switch.  I'm assuming I would need the other caps wired on a small piece of vero?

You don't necessarily need vero, you can leave it floating as long as it doesn't cause a short.

Does anyone have any experience with the satin black finish from PPP? I'd like a really matte finish, but satin might have to do.

I've snapped off 3 single sockets and soldered them in place one at a time (keeping them in place with a piece of tape) but I sense that's not really an answer for you as well.......... Maybe Brian's up for it, maybe not, but his stuff is brilliant anyway!!

Why have I not thought of using tape? That would make things so much easier haha.

Looks awesome! I can hardly wait for one, although a clean look would be nice I'm tempted to do a Jaime Lannister (the Kingslayer) decal.

I've never tried the Tiny Terror, I tried the Dark Terror today and thought it was horrible, I couldn't get a usable clean, pushed or high gain tone from it. The Orange OR15 looks pretty good, I'm waiting for the shops to carry them locally before taking the plunge but the clips I've heard have been pretty good.

Baroness....vids are easy enough to find, so I won't post any links. I saw them twice here in Holland last year and got to talk to John Baizley (singer, guitar) about his pedal board. He is a gear junkie and said that he has over 400 pedals (!) at home.

Baizley's insanely talented, I love his art and really dig Baroness, saw them a couple years back with Mastodon.  I had no idea he was such a pedal junkie, that's rad.

If you do get a layout going, please share! I'd be really into trying out this circuit. Maybe even put LoFoMoFo and the RG design in the same box for some double lo-fi effects!

Strategy

Seconded! That'd be a very interesting build.

I really like a mids pot for a Big Muff. Makes it a lot more versatile and keeps you from disappearing in the band mix. I made a simple drawing about how to hook up the mids control.

First, change C10 to 22nF. This is essential!

Second, change R18 to a resistor and pot in series like in the attachment. I like a 2k7 resistor and 10k pot to go from standard mid cut to flat mids, but you could use a lower value resistor if you want more mid cut and a 25k LOG pot if you want more available midboost.

Thanks Diamond! I'll definitely be adding a mids control, I didn't realize it'd be quite so easy.

The telephone noise pedal by R.G. Keen sounds like it may be what you are after.

There are some posts on DIYSB about it too.  Mark Hammer made some suggestions to make it more flexible by adding dual gang pots to the filters.  You could easily build it without the noise part too.

Be aware that there is an error in the schematic.  The center lug of the wiper has to go to VB, not GND as shown.

This sounds interesting, have you seen/heard clips of this anywhere?

You guys are going to love my graphic for this one... hope to get it wired up tonight...   ;D

Any update? I'm very interested in the Pharaoh. Also, for those who have tried both, how important is the mids control? I noticed the new Mudbunny board doesn't have a mids control.

Congrats man!

Thanks, I made a lot of rookie mistakes in the process but the end product turned out great. Now I just need to find a better decal method, I tried Letraset matte decal paper but wasn't happy with the results. My brother is a pretty good artist so I think I'll just get him to do the next one up with a paint pen or something.
