Build Reports / Re: First build: Thunderpuss

So you build all your JMK-pedals in your master bedroom? Amazing! My wife would kill me....  ;) Actually we're going to clean up/muck out the space that I posted a pic of, so I can get a proper workbench set up, NEXT TO the laundry machine. Everybody happy. Thanx for your support, appreciate (?? is that correct?) it a lot.

Thanks Jacob,

It is a challenge, but I live in an apartment, I could solder in the living room, but Mrs. Dutch would not agree to that....... A nice garage would be super, but you have to keep dreaming, I'll keep you all posted!

Some more pics, and the answer to the question you al are asking: Does it work?

First pic: board with wires. Second: There is a pot on there!

As to that all-important question: I don't know! I'm gonna butcher an old, un-used A/B-switch and make a test-rig out of it (comes with a DPDT switch and two jacks, oughtta work), and as soon as I find out, so will you! For now I'm done soldering (it's not easy with a laundry-machine between your legs!), I'm gonna have a beer. Cheers people, you'll hear from me in the very near future!

Build Reports / First build: Thunderpuss

Hi Everyone,

I'm so proud to announce my first build, a Thunderpuss! My partsorder came in earlier than expected, so here it is! As mentioned by Mad Bean himself, it is quite suitable for a newbie like myself.... Had loads of fun doing it, I'm glad I already have some more boards and parts, so I can solder some more this weekend!

In the first picture you see my workspace. It's not ideal, but it works, and there's mechanical ventilation there, always a plus while soldering! The second pic is the completed board, the third gives you a look at my soldering, not bad for a first attempt I guess.....

General Questions / Re: A few questions
January 03, 2012, 01:43:00 PM
Thanx for bringing this up and all the info you guys are giving, I had a lot of the same questions. I'll be soldering this weekend, hope to post some pics next week. First up: Thunderpuss. If that works out ok, a couple of overdrives, which i want to put in 1 big box.

As for the drilling: I've got access to a pro metal shop at work, so i feel like a lucky bastard :)

Sorry if i was misunderstood, don't mean to offend anyone! BTW: I worked for the dutch mail company for almost 8 years, so i know what happens with everything that gets sent around. I'm actually amazed that most of it gets on it's destination on time and in one piece, the things i've seen.......

Again apologies, and happy new year everyone!

You know, Brian is not to blame for any slow local mail services! I waited some time for my first boards as well, but they arrived, with the same hand-written "thx" as mentioned before. We should be grateful for a guy putting this much effort in keeping his customers happy! BTW: did you see his posts on the recall for Honeydripper boards? He IS FOR REAL!! No big company is gonna do a thing like that! All the best to you for 2012 Brian, keep it up!!

I ordered some solid core wire from banzai, close to 24 gauge (we euro's don't use the "gauge", we're metric over here!) i'll see how it works. Any more insights that a newbie should know before starting off? By the way, just ordered the parts today, so it's gonna be at least a week before i start soldering...

Thanx already for the support!

Hi everyone!
In the last few months i've been learning a lot from this forum, what does what etc..... Now i've got some boards from The Bean and some questions regarding general board manufacturing!

1: Do i mount the components flush to the board, or some distance from it?
2: Is there an order which works best? for instance: first resistors, then capacitors etc....
3: what kind of wire to use?

I will post some pics of my progress, all help will be much appreciated!

Greetz, Paul
