He does seem to come across a bit poorly in interviews.

I've met him and he was perfectly nice in person.

I think this might be my favorite page on the site:

I was going with the parody until I clicked on a buy button and it actually took me to PayPal. Still, it's got to be a joke, right? Most of the things look like he saw them on the side of the road and then he made up a marketing story for them.

I did the same thing.

I still think it's a joke, but he doesn't seem to have an issue with taking money from the people he's making fun of.  It doesn't strike me as very ethical, but it doesn't preclude it from being a joke, either.

I think the site is actually a spoof on some of the (very real) audiophile nuttiness that predated it.  It has a very Andy Kaufmanesque feel to it.
Are you saying I shouldn't have ordered these products?  Crap!  My audio system will continue to have resonance control, RFI/EMI absorption, and isolation problems.  Now what can I do?

I am sure that they will help in some fashion.  I'd suggest taping the rocks to the section of the speaker cables that are sitting directly on the tennis balls.

It does seem to be an ongoing experiment, however.  If you read the guy on forums, he doesn't seem to break character, but it does seem like many around him get the joke.  Of course, there are those who don't get it and ardently defend his products.  It would be a bit funnier to me if he wasn't actually selling the products and taking advantage of the people that he is making fun of, but oh well....

That looks really nice.  I like how the etched area still has a hint of red.

I think it'd be good, just to have a central repository for the info.  There are some cool amp threads already here and it'd be nice if they were all in the same location (at least going forward).

I don't think there are any tants at all on the ffx fundraiser board.  There was an issue with the 47uF ceramic, but Brian included those with all overseas shipments.

Did you not get yours?

Thanks for your help. I've been using the panasonic ones, why do you use WIMA? Are they better?

The polystyrene Wima caps are more expensive and considered by hifi types as preferable, but there is nothing wrong with the Panasonic film caps.  They are my preferred cap for pedal building.

The Zero Point MINI is a 1590B build, so it will work with the film caps from WIMA that Musikding sells. I always use those. Unfortunately they don't have MLCC caps in that capacity range. I got a few at RS components though.

Yep, you're obviously correct.  I read ZP Micro.  Oops.

If it weren't for you they would be cluttered with big, ugly electro caps ;)

What is this sorcery you speak of?  No smd electros? ;D

But seriously... how do you properly substitute other caps of higher value? Tants?

SMT Tants > SMT Electros.

IMHO, of course.

Sure, a film cap will work fine from an electrical standpoint.  If you are putting it in a 1590a, it may not fit in the box, however.

There should be other places that stock MLCC 1uF caps.  They are fairly common.

Have you got a photo of 'em? All I know about radioshack is that they are in America and sell electronic parts, and that's about it.

Sadly, in the Radio Shacks near me, that's all they know as well.  :-P

But if you need a cell phone, cell phone case or batteries, they will gladly try and sell you them.

Mike, I am really sorry for your loss.  Considering how close you are to the family, I am sure it's rough.  Hang in there.

Great build.  Dig that clean wiring.
