Dave, could you mess one built one of these days? Just so i feel better? ;D

Just for you, the next 1590a build will be a Big Cheese build with 7 glory holes.  :-p

It could just be that particular build as well.  I have a Divided Octave that whines even with an isolated supply, regardless of what pump I put in it.

I forgot how good this sounds.  Time to get building.

I dig the box, too.

Build Reports / The Zebra Riot
June 22, 2014, 08:31:00 PM
Now with more 80's!

I wasn't totally happy with the etch on my other riot; there was too much fine detail for it to etch that small.

I decided that a bookmatched zebra pattern would give the required 80's hair metal vibe.  I'm much happier with the way this turned out.

In the gutshot, the switch body isn't exactly square with the jacks.  I've fixed that but CBA to take more photos.  There's nothing in this gutshot that hasn't been seen before anyway.

Brilliant. Especially impressed with the mechanics - 16mm pots, room for top or side jacks.

Yeah, that stuck out to me as well.  Very well laid out for practical building.

Great job, Mark.

Very nice, Mark.

Your SMT soldering has always been good, but your layouts are getting better.  Your internal wiring is really nice, too.

That looks WAY better, IMHO.  Much more visually balanced.

electrons don't know the difference between copper traces on an etched or fabbed pcb ;)

Yep.  If they sound different, it's because the layouts are different.

Very classy build.  It sure does have the vibe of the real thing.

It has a lot more to do with the layout of the board than whether or not it is etched or fabbed.

Most pedals don't consume a lot of current and don't need huge traces.

All things being equal, I prefer fabbed boards because they are easier to work with and more consistent.  You also have the advantage of being able to pour ground on the top and the bottom, which can sometimes help bring the noise floor down.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody.

Catfud, I get them from Small Bear.  I often prefer them these days.

Something I said?  :-\

Regardless, I know there's a few other dads here and I hope you all feel appreciated.

It's all good, Billy.  It was just a busy day.  Hope you had a great one.

The name of this board is going to lead to some very awkward WTB threads.

"You want how much for the board?"

I can't seem to get away from 0.5" OD aluminum knobs from Small Bear.  Those are my favorite, both the silver and the knurled black.
