Very cool, Rej.

And congrats on being the only person in the pedal building world who actually uses the pot tabs.  YOU should win a prize.  :-)

My only real complaint with the Charvel is the amazingly bad placement of the volume knob.  I've been meaning to rip it out and put a dual concentric where the tone knob is.  I've only had the guitar for 15 years or so, I can't be expected to jump right on a complicated mod like that.  :-D

Come to Chicago.  We have a Fry's.  :-)

My Dad and I make occasional trips to Fry's.  It's a geek bonding experience.

Their pricing is great on some things, terrible on others, but it's nice to be able to grab things locally.  I usually grab some flux remover when I go.

Yep, Mouser is my favorite place to go.  I hit Newark and Allied for certain items that I can't get at Mouser.  I also picked up some parts from Avnet and that worked great (although their website is pretty bad).

I haven't been buying much from Digikey lately as Mouser has most of the same inventory, but at lower prices.

I've developed somewhat of a taste for Japanese Charvel and Jackson products as of late.  Picked up a Japanese Jackson RR5 (TOM bridge, so not quite hair metal vintage) a few weeks back, killer thin neck on that one with scalloped fingerboard and jumbo frets (the scallop job was not factory I'm pretty sure, but someone did a good job on it), currently finishing a fret level job on it.  Interesting thing though, it came stock with a JB in the neck and the bridge, and the JB in the neck is actually the bridge model, not the neck model (you can get a neck model JB from SD, it's just not that common).

Looking to pick up a Jackson Kelly if I can find a nice one used, and a Charvel San Dimas or SoCal Wildcard if I can find another one (could have picked a used one up a while back, but they wanted essentially a new price for it, and it needed enough work that I wasn't paying full price for it).  Kind of interested in the GJ2 guitars too (the new Grover Jackson stuff).

Would really like to find a legit ESP Lynch Skull and Bones Skull and Snake version (same as the cover for Wicked Sensation), but those are wayyyyy too pricey for a guitar I'm not going to use much.  Same thing for a higher end BC Rich Mockingbird.

Have one Ibanez shredder guitar left, need to swap the pickups on it and do some work on the bridge, as I'm currently not happy with either.

Oh yeah, and I have 6 EVHs/Wolfgangs/Axis's, and looking to add some more.  Don't think they qualify as headbanger guitars though.

I have a Japanese Jackson Soloist (neck-thru) and a Japanese Charvel Fusion (bolt-on).  Both are fantastically made guitars.

The Charvel is a workhorse for me.  It has some dual blade singles to go with the bridge humbucker.  I am not sure if they are original to the guitar, but they sound great.  I need to pull them out and see what they are one of these days.

The Jackson is one of the best playing guitars I own, although the neck is definitely on the thin side.  The Jackson branded pickups are simply the worst things I have in any of my guitars.  I've been meaning to replace them, but haven't gotten around to it.  I have a Duncan Distortion that is bound for the bridge on that one, still deciding on the single coils for it.

I also have an MIJ Ibanez RG-570 that I bought in the early 90's.  It was my second guitar (and first that wasn't a POS).  I replaced the pickups with SD a while back. It's a very nice guitar, but I play the Charvel the most out of the three.

Cool.  I didn't see a problem; I was just curious.

That looks much better than your earlier posting.  Good job.

How is the PCB mounted?

That is beautiful madness.

That is amazing, Keefe.  I really like the graphic you did for that one and the wiring is fantastic.

i think many of you hate me for posting everytime such a noobs things... sorry for that

As long as you're willing to learn, people here are willing to help you learn :)

Plus there tends to be, for every poster, a bunch more lurkers with the same problem.

Agreed.  We all had to start somewhere.

2.)  Pedals that used a cheap vinyl sticker as a label.  I don't consider this as bad as some of the other things but it bothered him.

PD, I dare you to do a bare-metal enclosure build and, before you do your trademark I-wish-my-bought-pedals-looked-that-good graphics, put some Dymo labelling on and show it to him :)

If I did that, we'd clearly be able to charge a lot more, especially if one of the labels makes a Dumble Reference. Maybe I could call it the "Overprice Special (TM)."

1.)  Pedals that came in no packaging at all.  Just bagged and ready to go.

What?  Seriously?  I can understand no UPC, but no box or label?  Sheesh.

Devi (cough cough) Ever?  Sticker and bare aluminum.

3.)  Pedals that came without the bottom plates screwed on.  The screws came with in a separate bag so it was easy enough to put them in, but he thought that was a bit lame.

WTF?  Seriously?  I think it would be harder to keep the bottom cover from getting beat up if it was rattling around.  Like it saves you so much time to not screw on the bottom panel (SMH).

I know you guys know how to make a quality product, and I wish you all the best with your pedal company endeavor.  If the prospective dealer can notice the great quality right off the rip, I'm sure discerning end-users will as well.   8)

Yeah, I have no explanation for not screwing in the baseplate.  That is unprofessional by any standards.  The lack of shipping box (even a plain cardboard one) seems a bit odd.

The sticker thing really depends on execution to me.  I got the impression that it was a cheap bumper sticker type thing randomly stuck on the enclosure, but I didn't actually see it.  Some companies have done nicer adhesive type labeling and it's been OK.  In defense of Devi Ever, at least she kept the prices really low and stickers were applied reasonably well.  It wasn't a $350 Tube Screamer with a sticker on it.  People will put up with a little bit of "rough around the edges" when they are paying $100 vs. a whole lot more.

Yep, 3M VHB is highly  recommended if you have to use double sided tape.

They have different formulations to match various substrates.  McMaster Carr has a large selection of it.
