Devil's advocate, but my mate Jodie didn't like the Wicked Switch setup in my MN3008 Dirtbag, chiefly because of the soft touch switch (as opposed to feeling a hard actuation through the foot.)

Always appreciate use of buss wire :)

She's a little beaut :D

Well, you should have hung out for chief solder orang-utan, then.

I did that with my Cabronita -- the foam that the pickup came packaged in, in the space between pickup and body (to act as a spring.)

My supervisor at work (Darren Wallace -- loaned him a couple pedals) asked me what my warranty period was.

"Don't have one, but I'll always have a look."

Biggest problem with most any stomp switches are the incredibly loose tolerances for the threads on the bolt and the nut, from my experience.

Minor note, your text on what it is is placed on the bottom, on the copper layer (under the 8pin IC)

Open Discussion / Opera

Okay, I've used the Opera web browser since the nineties. More than a decade. It's interface and shortcuts are a familar friend to me. Doing the mouse shortcut of hold down right, click left to go back a page doesn't even require conscious thought by now for me.

But I'm honestly ashamed to say that I think I might have to change browser, after so many years.

They've abandoned their engine, and Opera is now Chrome with window-dressing (and admonishments of "Use an app for that!" when you complain about long-standing Opera features being neutered out.)

If I wanted to use Chrome, I wouldn't be using Opera.

Funny, how you can get emotionally attached to a program. I loved the hell out of X-Tree Gold in the 486 days, but time moves on.

Lee, Bret, and Jon, that looks amazing. How long did the initial lecture take?

Super impressed by the gutshots. Tidy as hell.

Also... it seems to be that a broad streak of OCD is useful in this hobby, and I'm curious as to how much of it the students have in their day to day life. I know that I'm horrible for that (I've inherited a particularly awful (to other people) habit of telling people the same thing when instructing ("You've told me that BEFORE."), since I've worked with too many people who have to be told something ten times, and it only sinks in on the tenth...)

Ramble over.

I'm just sayin', if a meatworker like ME can do it, then ANYONE can...

Well, my mate Jodie did the countersinked bit for his Doobie Ganja (Doppelganger, he heard of Soldersqueeze's build and his brain went PING!), then I saw Rej using the technique, and I thought, "I can do that!"

It involves dropping the drill press for half a heartbeat, then pulling back and seeing if you need to go further :) Not hard, you just can't do it if you have hamhanded fists of lead. Luckily for me, I'm just hamhanded.

Amazing. Looks like you jumped in a time machine, bought an original, and came back to 2015!

Build Reports / PS-1A

PS-1A phaser pedal. This is based on some old keyboard unit, originally, mods provided by Juansolo, Cleggy, and Rej (who also provided a boot up the bum to get moving on this.)

I'm too lazy to bother with the etched version, sorry. I used a 1590Q, from memory, chiefly because I had it lying around (don't remember why) and there were no clearance issues.

This is running off 12V AC, not 9V DC. Linear power supply on board, nice and clean with no ticking :)

Quick question, how well would a De Profundis going into a Moodring work? I've got both the circuit boards almost built, but no enclosure, yet. I was thinking of a Hammond 1456 of some sort.

Put them on opposite sides of the room for more mindblowingly stereo :)

Question was about SINGLE core shielded cable ...

Yes, and the ground would be the shield (connected at both ends), with the centre conductor the V+.

I did include a disclaimer that I am just a meatworker :P
