I have a couple of Proskit spanners that are *just right* for Alpha pot nuts (10mm) and those red toggle switches (8mm). The 8mm one also fits the 3.5mm jack nuts perfectly as well

You'd only need shielding if it was profoundly filthy, unfiltered, unregulated DC power, in which case you've got problems to sort out further up the foodchain (and once the shite PSU is fixed, you don't need shielded DC power cable.)

I am just a meatworker, but interference happens when an electromagnetic field changes near a component that is sensitive to this (like, say, high gain opamps at the input of a guitar pedal.) EMF changes happen when the voltage on the wire fluctuates -- if the voltage is constant, like with a good DC source, then the EMF field will be constant. If the voltage is constantly changing, like with an AC source (power, clock source, LFO expression jack, etc), then the EMF field from the source's wires will constantly change, and thus affect the susceptible component.

But I could be talking out my arse.

Gritty, fizzy, smooth -- I would like to think that those are terms we can agree on.  You know them when you hear them, right?  But do we have further terms that can define them so that we know we mean the same thing?  Is it the quality of the distortion or a function of the EQ or both?

I found the Cat Girl Synth CGS59 (or 60, I forget) Stomp Box Adaptor to work well.

Interesting that it runs on +/-15V. The schematics on the bareille website are a little bit hard to read.

Need to order some of those special pixie dust switches that the new Bean boards use... Smallbear are the only link I have for them (Mouser probably have them, along with the cables used in microwave satellites and the jacks used in the first phone exchange, but I honestly don't want to trawl their filters.)
