Nice job on that :)

Awwww... I bet the cat gets a lot of attention when you're NOT building :D (my cat was the same when I was working on a board earlier -- meow, meow, meow, look at ME, meow...)

Is the red painted IC a microprocessor of some kind?

Have you painted a guitar that way before? :)

Build Reports / Re: DIY Pedalboard (Case yet to be built)
February 24, 2015, 04:08:03 AM
I know a guy who welded his pedalboard together (with thin ply for the flat areas.) He added wheels as well :D and a lockable cover to either protect his pedals and stop beered up bogans spilling booze on 'em, or for a Maiden-style footrest while playing.

I'm not sure you realise just how scary those tiny diodes are on that board.

Hugely fun, just got to extensively clean and sterilize when you brew.

The cats are wiling to let you think that, as long as you continue to serve them as befits their station ;)

Always had cats in my family, and we've NEVER, EVER had rodent problems.

Apart from when we get a kitten, and the older female cats bring in a live mouse for the young'un to learn on.

I've found I like low gain OD best.

This is what cabinets of homebrew are for.

I'm guessing you mean 7805 and 78L05?

The major difference (besides pinout -- always check pinout in the datasheet!) is current handling. The TO-92 package one does not have the cojones of the TO-220 one.

Open Discussion / Pug dogs
February 21, 2015, 02:20:39 AM
I think I must be the only person who doesn't like pugs -- their squat bodies look like someone's spent some time with a woodwork vice, and the eyes pretty much always look like they'd pop out if you patted it on the back of the head, or if it nodded. Plus how the tongue often doesn't fit in the mouth.

I'll admit the documentary on purebred dog problems (and the 3 year followup doco) colours my views on them.

They look more mutant to me. Like "dwarf breed" cats.

I was talking about voters not knowing the identity of the contestants.

Thing is, anyone who has posted a few builds here, you can guess who built a "secretly posted" entry.

You know exactly what my pedal builds tend to look like.

Timbo's are even more obvious.

Juan's stick out like the dog's proverbial (except Juan's builds you'd want to see.)

I like the idea of different categories, but I think it would be fun to do it per contest.  One contest is aesthetics, the next one could be wiring, or something like that.  People may plan their builds differently if the entire contest is based on one criteria.  It might also help folks sharpen specific skills.  Just a though.

If we do a contest based on aesthetics and attractiveness, I think I'd win the booby prize :P

Agreed with what Leevibe and others have said.

Jimi looks pretty much Keith'ed out, haha :)

Nice stuff, good feeling to kill that dragon, a?

There's another vid on youtube of a V-16 engine or something, on the same scale. Same quality (video and machining), same video techniques... suspect same person behind both.

Know exactly what you other guys mean -- my grandfather machined and built his own little steam locomotive (2 foot tall), and rails, and even some little seats for it to pull. Passed away when I was too young to appreciate him :(

Depending on the specific use of the pot in the circuit in question, you MIGHT get away with a substitution. Might.
