General Questions / Re: Mudbunny Socketing

Here's what I use to study the basic circuit itself.  Though the Mayo isn't on this page - only EHX versions - the info should be applicable nonetheless.  There's some nice schematic breakdowns that highlight areas of influence.

There are lots of LED's that are classified as 'clear tinted', the casing is coloured/tinted but they are not diffused, easy to see the difference.

Interesting, I'd never seen those.  I learn something new everyday 'round these parts.

I need to test the color of some LED's. what is the coin battery thing?

Use a 3v coin battery like those common in watches and the current doesn't burn the LED like a 9v would.

okay....so if the shell is red does that make it diffused?

Yep.  If the casing is colored, it is diffused.  If it is clear, then it is waterclear.  Basically, if you can tell what color the LED is without looking at the package it came out of, it is a diffused.

I tend to like diffused better for everything because I have a ton of loose waterclears and no idea what color they are.  Sure, I could do the coin battery thing, but I'm on'ry!  ;D

Congrats, Paul!

Your build is quite worthy of an entry in the build contest IMO.  And yep, the only thing that pushed me past a bare enclosure with sharpie labeling was all the gasping in awe I've at the marvelous builds of all the resident wizards here (yourself included, of course).

They raise the bar - I just try to catch up!  ;D

I had a Behringer UV300 a while back that I wanted to rehouse.  It sounded great, rightly close to an old Boss VB-2, but I took it apart and decided against it.  There would have been a whole lot of work involved, much more than your average rehouse.

When all is said and done I'd just follow LaceSensor's suggestion on buildinga DIY reverb and calling it a day.

Excellent build, sir!  I too very much enjoyed your demo.

Open Discussion / Re: Houston or New Orleans?
April 16, 2013, 10:23:58 AM
I'll offer some opinions, but bear in mind I have nothing like a comprehensive view of either city.  Being close enough, I've been to both a number of times.

As far as being a city is concerned, I like Houston more.  The traffic can be bad, and so can New Orleans traffic, but the difference I've experienced is that Houstonians know how to drive in traffic.  Us Louisianians are generally terrible drivers....let a storm come through and we get exponentially worse at knowing how to drive.  Comments from people all across the nation who visit here confirm this.

I can't comment on the guitar stores, as I usually just went to the nearest Guitar Center in Houston and have yet to visit a shop in NO.

Of course, if a major interest of yours is culture, New Orleans is the way to go.  That place is steeped in all sorts of culture with amazing musical styles and an intriguing homage to the early days of the Big Easy by way of voodoo and other cross-cultural traditions.

That's super cool, where'd you get black vero?
I just used a sharpie on it  :D
can you do that?

Apparently so.  I haven't myself, but I've seen folks use painted vero and etched boards.  Considered doing it, but didn't want to somehow ruin the solder side.

Sharpie seems a much safer bet and that actually looks pretty cool.  Great build!

I haven't built the Zero Point yet, but I found 1776 Effects' Multiplex Jr. a pretty easy build using PCB-mount pots.  It sounds great.  As far as modulation goes, I generally don't use any modulation, but it's nice and subtle on the 1776 delay and I actually prefer to keep it on.

I bought all the stamps at my local Hobby Lobby.  The letter stamps come as a bundle.  I had to buy the lower case letters and upper case letter boxes separately.
