Arrgghhh... hehe... Cant get a simple (?) task to work as i want...

Somehow inspired by this thread: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=2545.0, i started to play around with different components on my breadboard. At the moment hooked up like this (very simplified):

Input--> [Baxandall/"James" tonestack] --> [OP Amp buffer] --> Output.

So far it works well. The OP amp buffer is pretty much exactly this one:
(link to beavisaudio tech pages)

Now for my next task: I want to add some make-up gain to this circuit. Can i do that in the same OP-amp stage as i use as buffer atm? I have done a few tries, but not succeeded.

Thanx in advance. Links are welcome too:)

Hi folks and mr bean:)

I tend to read and browse here more than I write posts, and one thing i find every now n then here on the forum is the line

... it shows up fairly often. For example; i just read through this thread:
http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=2545.0

... and every attached picture is gone. Makes it hard to follow the thread subject.

Is all this intentional? Or were there some forum crash or something before i became a member here?

(...and dont read me wrong. im not complaining, just politely curiously asking...)

Cheers

Yep, it's a Hammond Trapezoid enclosure. You can get them prefinished from mouser. Just search "stomp" and you get a bunch of options  ;)

Cool. Thanx for info. Keep up the good work:)

I 'm impressed!

simple, cool :)

I have to ask; is the photo / angle playing a game on me, or is it some unusually sized box?

Thank you guys. As it comes to enclosure design, i guess this one is a bit more ambitious than my earlier more pünky builds.

The "Distortion" font is MD Thaitype A which i stretched a bit sideways

I also like to pass on some useful links i got from marauder, Juansolo, Guitarmageddon:

On JFET matching: http://runoffgroove.com/fetzervalve.html
, http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/fetmatch/fetmatch.htm

On etching enclosures: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=80962.0

Hi again forum.

First: Thanx to Guitarmageddon, whos threads inspired me to try out some etching. And thanx to Juansolo and Marauder for sharing some very useful info on how to trim this box. And thanx to everyone who has posted a picture of your chunkchunks on here. It is VERY useful to browse around and view how u solved the wiring and drilling etc... I concidered to "simplify" the wirings by interconnecting some pot lugs directly, but giving it a second thought; i dont think it would have been simpler. Or less "messy". So... it turned out the way it is right now.

I chose 2n5457 jfets. I breadboarded a JFET matcher, measured all JFETs and set the trimmers (drain voltages) as calculated from the measured result (always closer to 6V than 4.5V). Plug n play... sounds just great.

A bit poor photo quality (?), but you can see how it looks:) The etching part was fun!

Does this mod still connect to C12 on the new 2012 boards?

Good you put up the question, becos, NO, it does NOT seem so. The "old" C12 is now C17 (just had a quick look).

So... check your schematics before you follow the advices in this thread!

+1 on Jacobs link above. Especially, check out post no 5 in the thread. Maybe the most helpful post ive seen around these DIY forums:) I am very glad that i found it before i put my first "big" order...

Nice... don't know what doco you mean, is it supposed to be a Kraftwerk reference? _Trans Europe Express_ had a track "Metal On Metal".

My guess is "Anvil - the story of Anvil". Maybe the best rockumentary. Ever:) ...

And on topic; nice build. Cool metallion look.

FWIW, my soldering station is a Weller from mid-90s, works like a charm and feels very stable and "pro".

Rough indeed, but I'm gradually getting better at it. ;D

Just to avoid any misunderstanding (even if i guess its clear...); I absolutely meant "rough" in a very positive way:) ...

Thanx for the link. I will look it up. Not sure i will practice this technique on my soon-to-come-projects, but it looks so cool, i just have to try it some time:). Maybe i will also evolve into boardetching too ... time will tell.

Cheers!

Very punk.  I like the diode switcher, nice job :)

Thank you. Yep i guess the 6x2 rotary is the "thing" with this one:)

Nice work here, did you paint the box yourself?

Yep, i painted this one myself. I didn't let the kids do it this time:) ... Fun how many creative moments there are in a boxbuild. This time i found a few spraycans (one [öoangsch] (eastgoteisch. Internal joke sorry) among other) in the basement. Its actually the very first time ever i use spraypaint on anything at all.

I took a few more pics, maybe it gives the colors better justice. As if the colors of this one should ... ehhh ... win some design contest... not sure of that ;D

Cheers:)
