Anthony Wilson (also known as Diana Krall's guitar player) recorded some songs with the so-called `Seasons Quartet`, uniting 4 of the top-range jazz guitar players of this era:

Here is a session at Fretboard Journal with different guitars (but same players, except Steve Cardenas), I guess the original guitars won't leave the Met...:

And another video of Anthony Wilson with each guitar:

I personally approve any pedal with Stacey Rozich artwork on it.

Hi guys. It looks like apetonefx.com is down at the moment.

Could anyone kindly share the Cascadia build doc with me? I got my Mouser order in today and would love to start working on it :)

Ugh, I'm out of town in LA and my hosting service had a malware attack from one of my sub-domains. I am working with them to get it back up.

Cascadia build doc

Thank you very much!

I freaking love Ray LaMontagne. Played a couple of songs of one of his oldest albums at a Xmas party this year and got hooked.
My favourite songs of his are from "God Willin' & The Creek Don't Rise". I think that album is magnificently produced. Greg Leisz & Eric Heywood lines are just perfect.

The other guitarist in that track is Jim James from My Morning Jacket. He is known for using a ZVEX Wooly Mammoth and it could perfectly be that one you are hearing IMO.

Wether it is Jim or Ray playing that line on that song I don't know

Also, the Manx Loaghtan looks like it uses 5 transistors (one of them being a Mosfet stage after the tonestack), whereas the Muffroom Cloud (based on my inspection of that photo) only uses 4 (as the Big Muff Plus I pointed out before does).

I don't want to get into a debate on it, and had no affiliation/relation with Thorpy at all, but saying he 'cried' on FSB is a bit too much IMO. Anyway, if you are interested on Baxandall-like tonestack experimentation with the BMP, there is another original design in FSB (on the diy section) called 'Big Muff Plus'.

There is also a well known mod people call 'Noise Gate Mod' for the BMP to reduce hiss and several to adjust the gain & 'smoothness'. Take a look here:
http://www.coda-effects.com/2015/11/big-muff-mods-and-tweaks.html
and here
http://www.kitrae.net/music/Big_Muff_Mods_and_Tweaks_Page.html

The BMP is quite a fun circuit to experiment with & dissect into small bits.

Nice to have you back Rej!

I am sorry you are going through a rough patch but also happy to hear you are doing what you can to sort it out, that first step is worth much more than what it may seem.

If you need anything don't hesitate to ask for it!

It does look cool. Definitely worth the extra effort.

I haven't used Rustoleum (it wasn't available in Spain and haven't built a pedal since I moved to the UK...) but I always struggled with spray paints. Only way I managed to get some decent results was by layering really thin coats and letting them dry before applying the next one.

I yet have to build mine, the only demo I've heard (by mfunky) sounds wonderful.

I've built both and prefer the britannia.  They both sound great, but the english channel was a little noisy in a band setting.  The britannia has rarely been off my pedal board since building it over 2 years ago.

This is a grossly nonsensical statement! The Britannia is a distortion pedal so it is expected to get noisier as you dial the gain up. But saying it was "a little noisy in a band setting" is ridiculous !!! So what would you prefer it to be? What do you expect from a pedal like that? I mean throwing comments like this all over the place is a good argument why the internet should be limited to people with at least an average IQ. Have mercy on our souls, man!!!

I usually would let this go and ignore a response like this, but I've been away from this forum (on which I used to participate quite actively) for a while and coming back to find that someone creates an account to throw a comment like this just 5 min afterwards makes me sad.

This forum has a lovely atmosphere, please don't ruin it.

On another note, I think muehring was talking about the English Channel, not the Britannia. The English Channel is a preamp recreation using JFETS, but the Britannia uses a different approach and includes a resonant filter to simulate a cabinet response.

From rog: 'Now we present Britannia, a fully redesigned adaptation of the AC-30 for use as a guitar pedal which has been optimized for playing into a clean solid-state amp'

Also, just to get things straight: noise and distortion are completely different things. If you come here trying to enlight others with your rightfulness I would ask you to do two things:
a) try to be as polite as you can, the internet provides some 'anonymity' but there's still a person at the other side of your screen
b) get your facts right

General Questions / Re: Bluetooth controlled pedals?

wow, crazy that this came up just as I was posting about something similar in mb's din thread.

Great info, micro.  anyone know if people are using bt for input/output signals?  could make for an interesting looper.

Bluetooth is not too fast for audio routing, good enough for parameter control though.

Bluetooth latency would be noticeable for real-time applications although a looper is not really "real time", right?.
A looper is not real time but playback needs to be in sync, so depending on who controls the looper's playback you would have ~40ms latency, which is too much.

They are, and some people have done cool stuff with it.
Once you have a digital controlled pot hooking up a bluetooth circuit isn't a big problem, but you'll have to figure out the way to send control messages (maybe using Open Sound Control?)

There are 3 ways I have seen it done:
a) digital potentiometers [PROS: easy to control via a microcontroller and from the application side][CONS: most of them (the cheap ones) are not really suited for signal applications]
b) VCAs (voltage controlled amplifiers) [usually not cheap, sometimes a pain to work with and they usually involve some extra circuitry]
c) variable resistors with optocouplers (or variable pots using 2 optocouplers) [PROS: best suited for audio & signal applications][CONS: not cheap, you need to match the optocouplers or at least characterise their curves because they have great tolerances]

Chase Bliss Audio uses option c) for his pedals afaik and RobA posted some circuit & software on this forum a while ago to create a digitally-controllable potentiometer following a similar principle. Usually what puts people off is the amount of extra circuitry & work it involves.

That said, I have done some experiments and it is not really complicated if you have some software dev background.

I came across about this guitars some years ago, the luthier is apparently quite well known in Argentina and, although the guitars are not my cup of tea, I have to recognise they are quite original.

Now they are launching a crowfunding campaing and it looks quite appealing to me,

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/musk/musk-skateguitars/faqs

For that price I would get one myself, but it only ships to US.

I don't know the guy personally, I am no affiliated with them just thought it was a nice project to share.

Don't know about the Tonezone, but another friend of mine recently installed some Evo-2 pickups on his Ibanez and they surely scream.

If you want to spend some bucks, I have a Suhr SSV on my G&L Legacy that is one of the sweetest bridge humbuckers I've ever used (it came with the guitar when I bought it).

I've also tried the hotter version on a Levinson Blade a friend of mine had and that thing was awesome.
