Wow!  Beautiful PCB and build.  Right down to the different colored screws for the nameplate.

But as far as I know you can only invert the supply voltage with a 7660 or 1044.  Not double and invert.

You can double and invert. There's an example schematic in the data sheets.

The current drops a ton. Use the LT1054 to source more. They're interchangeable but you might not get as much voltage if the current draw is higher.
My bad.  I didn't write that clearly.  I meant that I didn't think you could double the inverted voltage.  At least I'm not seeing that in the 7660 or 1044 datasheets.

I didn't know you could do that with an LT1054.  But as far as I know you can only invert the supply voltage with a 7660 or 1044.  Not double and invert.

There are some DC/DC converters out there but my skills with those are weak.  I used a +15/-15v converter for a project but was getting +23/-23v.  Never figured out the issue on that one.  But now that you showed me the light on the LT1054 I might give that a go.

Damn, Dan!  Great to see the whole trio in one post.  But that Sea Machine is a nice piece of vero work.

I can't help with ideas but that box came out nice.  Well done.

You should try sending Kunfuz a message.  I think Juansolo built one, too.  If they don't have info I'll see what I can come up with.  Also, I would really consider using a Road Rage or another method of running this at 18v.  Or getting a GCFX Aeons board.  It is the same circuit but eliminates the toggle switches and has a charge pump on board.

Thanks for the nice words, guys.

Btw, if I blur my eyes I see Skeletor in the Gutshot. Was that intentional with the white wire teeth? :)
Totally accidental.  But I like your imagination.

I was waiting for this one to get posted! Great job on that layout. But only 8 clipping options? :)

Cody
I prolly would've done more but I ran out of switches  :).

"How about a Mad Professor Stone Grey with too many clipping options?  How about 4 clipping options on a rotary switch?  With the ability to switch them between symmetrical and asymmetrical, too?"  These are the kind of questions I ask myself when I have too much time on my hands and I'm going through Eagle withdrawals.  So how about it?  Totally unnecessary.  The germanium diodes just make it a low-gain OD that is just kinda bland.  The silicon diodes sound about the same as the transistors.  But I guess I sort of expected that.  The LED's are a bit different.  About the normal difference you would expect between LED and silicon in any other distortion circuit.

Clipping aside, it's a great distortion circuit.  There is a stripped-down, through-hole version in process to be released later this year for Grind Customs FX.  Here's a bit about that.

Is SMD stuff hard to solder? I've never worked with it
No.  It's just different.  I think the biggest thing is to get a few tools you might not have in the regular through-hole toolbox.  Pointy, metal tweezers, thin solder (I use .015" diameter solder), and some sort of magnification.  I use an Opti-Visor.

Just listened to a demo.  Might have to put this on the future build list.
I'm diggin' it.  I was playing some Dead Meadow last night and it does a nice job of getting the Sleepy Silver Door sound.

So glad you kept at least one light saber on the dark side (smd) of the force. Thought I felt a big ripple somewhere.

All that stuff you've done with Rej is lovely but it's just not the same.
Haha.  Thanks, Billy.  I'm not switching sides.  But you know the old saying, Sith gotta eat, too!

This is a Mountainking Megalith clone.  I had never heard of it until I saw the project in Etcher's Paradise (Sounds Like...Doom).  I checked out a few vids, next thing I knew I had a PCB.  Thanks for posting this project MB.

I've had a couple wedge enclosures for a while waiting for something cool to put in them.  The top of the enclosure was powder-coated red like the side/bottom.  After drilling I covered it with chrome decal stock.  Then I put on the clear decal with graphics printed on it.  I originally planned to print the graphics on the chrome stock but it is pretty thick and my printer wasn't having it.  The adhesive from the clear decal on the chrome gives it kind of an oxidized aluminum look

So cool.  I love that wiring.  Awesome etch, too.
