Thanks guys :)

It really sounds better than it was, the bright switch is a necessity on that amp... the capacitors also did their job, i can now feel the sound....wich i could'nt before.

The other performed mods are cool and have their use aswell, having the master volume is great, i can now have a nice clean sound.

Just for info, i'm using a Sovtek EL84 and TungSol 12AX7, i'm waiting after some RCA 12AU7 clear top, i may put one in there to get it even cleaner......the other going into a BoobTube....wich will be used with this setup.

Anyone have an advice on wich power tube could help me to clean my signal even more?

Thanks

A while ago i've been.............semi-challenged to build a 3 in 1 mini........here it is!

Genuine Bardel Pedals Stage 3 Booster PCB on wich you have to twist the legs of the FET to make it work...  , GRinger, GBOM Fuzz (OKF)

Think 3D or die.....haha!

Nom Nom Nom!!!   ;D

Beautiful sun out here today!  :)

The sound, it was my first time doing a green ringer........i definitly hear it and i love it, was also my first OKF, really like how it excites the gringer and with the boost at the end as a master volume thing just get so sweet, really love this little pedal :)

Build Reports / My Modded Vjr, Electro Swap!
July 15, 2012, 05:40:10 AM
Hi Y'all!

I got my Vjr in a trade couple months ago, what made me want to get that amp was the simplicity of modding it. It's now done..........well.........., there's still some stuff that i want to get done, but that's just to let the fun last.  8)

My evening picstory:

First of all, i needed to drill the chassis face plate to accomodate the added switch and knob.

I changed the response capacitors for NOS Russian PETP and the 100nf cap for a fish tank.....
Also change the 2 electros for some ELNA audio grade.

Once all the mods are installed.

From left to right you have:
Master Volume (Mod)
Gain Switch (Mod)
Bright Switch (Mod)
Negative Feedback Switch (Mod), that need to be wired to the 8ohms speaker outlet (the one i use the most)
Volume (Stock), now act as the preamp volume   8)
And input jack (Stock)

While i was at it i changed some 1M resistors with the Allen Bradley that Capt'N generously PIFed me :) Thanks Man!

I will later change the input jack and volume to they are directly wired to the pcb instead of using those quick connects

The components i removed!

Completely assembled and ready to rock!

Now! The extreme make over!  ;D

Thanks guys, space saving was really in my mind while building this, pedalboard is slowly getting over-crowded.....

The color is a 3 rattle can mix, all rustoleum, CE-2 Blue base coat, with a metallic purple for the top and color changing clear coat to top it off.

Now i really need to label the knobs on that thing...hehe

If it's cutting above 15KHz, that's low pass filtering...

Thanks for the answer Juan and Marauder. ;)

Just to add to the question about tone sucking, i currently have 2 original ISP Decimator in my high gain rig.

My guitar goes at first in a decimator, then goes 3 Boost/OD pedals and then through another decimator.

The first one is set at -40db and the second one at -30db, i've verified at low and at ear bleeding level if there was a serious tone sucking happening. Compared to the un-treated signal, there's a little hi-pass filtering happening, but nothing that hurts the tone, cuts pretty much everything over 15khz.

Compared to the stereo Rocktron HushSuperC i had before and Boss NS-2, there's no «compression effect» like those 2 make.

So if that circuit is true to the original, it's pure WIN! 8)

Love the Tantalumination in the Klony! 8)

The first build showed seems to be really interesting, i'll have to check it out....i'm also in perf mode these last days....

Hi Juan, i have a question about the LF353 IC in this project, i have the option of getting them with a common rejection ratio of 70db or 80db.

The original decimator have a treshold range that goes from -70db to +10db....

Will the op-amp make a difference in the lowest or highest settings?

Thanks

Thanks for the link Dan, i bought some similar to those from Tayda a while ago but with an external nut, but they don't work....V+ grounds to enclosure when power is plugged in...

Cheers!

crazy.  nice job.  I built the regular earthling madbean bloviator.  The "More Better."  They work very well with a good quality rig.  If you appreciate subtle tone mods etc.  Really good.

Yep, exactly, i'm using it with my Mesa MarkIV, too tighten up the low end without compromising the «attack».

I mostly play brutal/grind metal, so it's pretty usefull with my 7 string guitars aswell.
