It does look at bit like the MA856.
Which is hard to come by and are used in the King of tone. But a fv Reading would help:-)

General Questions / 2pdt switch in fatpants 2013.
May 30, 2014, 01:51:13 PM
Hi all.

I just bought some new boards including the fatpants 2013.

Since Im only using 6 of the 9 pinouts on the 3pdt switch, would It be ok to use a 2pdt istead?

Thanks in advance.

I put two in series to get the correct value. Plus it looks funny:-)

General Questions / Re: Good solder in EU

The one on musikding seems fine. I say buy it, its only 3€.
To me, solder is solder. It melts and make components stick in place:-)
I think i have some lead free stuff from musikding that I have been using for some time. It works.

I really dont get that ultra small package. I mean just how many pedals do you really need on a board?
Uhhh all of them.
All at the same time or what?:-)

Nice building point to start out on.
But Im thinking to ditch the grille and replace with a creamy/yellowed White?

I really like the bigger enclosures, I have even made one from an art tube preamp enclosure for my kingslayer. Which is unnecessary large.

I see why you want to make one, because you are bored or need the challenge. But every one?

I guess Im a bit old school regarding my board pedals. I 3 drives, reverb, delay and a fatpants. All above that is really just for show :-)

I would say xlr with a standard jack in one end into pedals, with a booster of some sort in. No probs.

Personally, I'm happy with "close enough for rock n roll".

One, any difference will get lost in the mix.

Two, sounding EXACTLY like the original is boring.

Three... here's a concept, "point of diminishing returns". There are some things that are night and day differences (like v3205d and mn3005), and there are some that are not worth chasing down (like original mustard caps for Marshall amp builds -- far more worth it to use Sozo, or just buy Mallory 150's. You're going to get more difference changing the value.)

That said, if you're having fun in the chase itself, go nuts!
Yeah if you are playing in a loud rock band, like myself, the diodes will get lost in other guitars and drums. But when Im at home building these pedals and recording music I like to try things out. There can be really subtle differences.

:-) Good Luck. You'll need a big house then.
But they do sound good together though.

The Klon has been reversed engineered and degoop, did the degooper find out what was the official, unicorn endorsed, diode?
From what I know, the closest equivalent in fv are those in the 1n34a's. I really dont think unicorns had anything to do with it. Just good marketing.

Well I have a kingslayer. And Im still changing the diodes. Just for fun. Guess you all know the feeling:-)

But i had bat41's in there for some time. Now I changed them out for assymetric 1n4148, the plain old/boring old ones. But i think thet are the best yet in there in combination with assymetric 1n34a. Pretty standard it turns out.

In my geranium clipping I had OA126, which sounded really good. But also a little fuzzy. So I swapped these with OA1160. I like those much better.

But as I mentioned, I will probably swap them some more around... Until the Sunking II arrives, then it starts all over again:-) But hey, its great fun.
