I never thought the fuzz duo would come out and ordered a custom one from Peter ;p
He said and I quote "While the re-design is not complete on the Fuzz Duo, it will go through that process this spring. The main question is whether or not I will keep the current design or make it only be able to switch out the first transistor from silicon to germanium. The first transistor makes the largest difference in the tone of the circuit, especially when directly connected to passive guitars. This change would also bring down manufacturing costs and allow me to add separate bass/treble controls.
No design goal is final until I've completed the process, but I anticipate that these will be the fundamental changes to the Fuzz Duo."

I work for USPS and am a letter carrier. If you had a priority package returned since July... well Blame it on those stupid clerks or mail handlers... Sometimes they will keep tossing a package to us carriers that is a RTS and they go back n forth but...
Since JULY????   wow  :-\

Gotta go small bear. Small bear has 7 colors. Better then nothing or else do it yourself  :o  I wonder what is up with PPP. They are pricey but loved their custom colors!

VFE Projects / Re: VFE Rocket PCB info?

There was some information up on the VFE website while those boards were on sale. It has since disappeared, but the links to the files are still live.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/as5w1bdmemnumof/REQassembly.pdf

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4iruzcpnmpkbkkr/TrueSoft%20Bypass.pdf

The Bypass PDF has the list of projects that are Standard vs Charge Pump

The site also had the boards divided into sections of no-mod and needs-mod which referes to the accuracy of the values printed on the PCB. The RocketEQ was a no-mod.
He was selling just the switching boards too. I wish I snagged a couple of those for some non  bean builds but I may just use another type of  homemade switching board without the pic chip

Build Reports / VFE Tractor Beam (1st VFE build)
April 29, 2019, 01:43:47 PM
I finally got around to making another pedal and decided on the Tractor Beam.
Pedal worked the 1st time with no issues.  My only question is that trimmer for the jfet, I found that if the trimmer is set almost all the way ccw I get the most phasing.
Pedal does sound great though and I will have to mess with the settings some more! lots of sounds from this one :-)

VFE Projects / Mini Mu for sale on VFE site!
April 11, 2019, 12:59:30 AM
I ordered a Mini Mu from the VFE website and have a couple of questions.
Is it a spilt rail project? also those caps that are marked pwr I assume are 100nf caps?
Not much info on this pedal other then  "built exactly as shown on board, but may take tweaking/modding to dial in just right"  couple of Diodes on the board looks like maybe  1N4001?
Need a schematic for that one I guess,  anyone have any info for this pedal let me know!

That's a *very* good price.  Nice score.
I asked the guy at the music store "Okay... what's wrong with this amp??? $600????"
guy said it weighs too much and no one wants those anymore...     ???

Build Reports / Re: BC109 Fuzz Face
April 01, 2019, 01:13:33 PM
Hey, I always use sockets for transistors but for Si transistors soldered directly to the board, is it okay to solder them in or do you use a clip on the lead so the heat does not kill the transistor? I am going to make a bc109c FF really soon...
thanks
