Nice work on your build. I built a RAH some time ago (not Raulduke's) and it is indeed a great pedal. Any number of boosts really light it up and work well.

Personally I think it works best on its own with a les paul as intended. I still have not found a pedal that really nails the JP tone better (excluding his early tonebender/tele stuff)

Thank you!
Oh a good friend of mine has a Les Paul traditional and a 1959 Plexi half stack and I cannot wait to run the RAH into that beast  ;D
good times!

Try a booster before the circuit; it opens it right up and takes it into distortion territory, the circuit sounds really cool like this IMO.

Make sure your LED is in the right way (a simple mistake), and disconnect that wire and see how it goes.

Opened her up and reversed the LED wires, took off that other wire from the LED pad...
She lights up now!
More I play on this, the more I like it. I boosted it with a bad monkey and it was rippin!  I am really temped to put  SHO in front, maybe build it inside with a daughter board, however it is pretty crammed inside so I may as stated before get a 1590bb and go for it. SHO/RAH may be the ticket!
Thanks again Steve!

Cheers! ;D

Heyas!
Yeah I have that little wire to the LED pad on the dc power like how I do other pedals and it killed the sound so I took it off. I will desolder that wire and check my LED to see if it is in wrong... I am sure that's the case.

Yeah I will try a boost in front. But I love that pedal. It has the perfect amount of dirt for rhythm playing and strait ahead rock n roll / blues and a booster in front should complete the package.

Thanks!

Build Reports / raulduke's Prince Albert build

Well,
I recieved a 1590b last Saturday and was able finish up the Prince Albert.
Very interesting pedal I must say. Gain is really low and I would assume HiWatt like just as they claim.
Dynamic pedal, cleans up great with the guitar volume knob and I think this pedal would make an awesome overdrive for a good amp to send you into awesome land. clips to come soon!

I just cannot figure out how to get that LED working... Either I blew mine up or it is in backwards so I need to check  ???

Outside -   Had a fun time drilling this out and it is not perfect but, oh well LOL
someday I will get around to learning how to put artwork on pedals  :P

Guts - and thanks to the layout and 3PDT board, wiring was a snap!  very clean
I did not have the correct pcb mounted pots so each pot has a small 1 inch wire going into the PCB so it is still pretty neat inside and you can pull everything out easily without a rats nest following you around.

On a side note... I have a purple plexi that I ran in front of this Prince Albert and I am really temped to get a 1590BB and slap them both inside to get the best of both amp sims in a pedal format  ;)

added a clip on youtube with a madbean mangler

Cheers!  and thanks raulduke!

My wife is going to kill me

WANT! Those are very nice builds. I will for sure want to hop in line for the pcb's of this fantastic duo!

Let me know when they are ready if any left!

Cheers!

I am going to have to try the BC549C's or 550s in there. I always socket the transistors to I can mess around with them

thanks!

Thank you everyone for the kind words!

Yeah I got that kit from mammoth and for four funky little Si transistors that cost next to nothing...
Aron Nelson's site has a vero of that one too under Ulysse's that I wish I saw before I got the kit. LOL
Pedal sounds great for what it does and side by side with my tonebender mk II it is *cough* more usable.
I love the Mk II but it is over the top and to really get everything out of the Mk II, IMO best on a cranked   (insert your favorite British amp here ) amp!  ;D

BTW I just ordered a weener wah with the whipple... if I get that going properly, DEMO to follow  :thumbs up:

That is purdy! Great job
My Kingslayer is sounding good but I need to grab some different diodes and LEDs to tweak it to taste.
One thing the Kingslayer did was kick my Badmonkey and MXR oD pedal off the board!

;D

 ;)
yeah, I would have rather gotten a quality PCB from madbean than suffer with the OTHER pcb

Build Reports / Hot Chilicon Fuzz (my 1st pedal build!)
October 12, 2012, 07:37:58 PM
 I thought I would share!
This the 1st pedal I ever attempted to build and I really learned how to make solder FLOW after this one.
Unforgiving etched PCB for a noob = solder blobs! I cleaned the board up however and checked the traces with a DIMM and all is well! I have since then bought a better soldering iron with the pencil tip and know how to solder now  ;D
Hot Chilicon Fuzz for those that don't know is just a modded tonebender I think from Aron Nelson or something like that - has a tone knob and fat switch - 4 transistors and this thing sings!
I have a resistor sitting in sockets so I can use a trim pot to further tweak it but it sounds good as is so I never put the bias trimmer in LOL

and the guts

I have not see any decent youtube demos of this one so I made this

I think the next tonebender I am going to make is madbean's pastyface with some russian Ge's
;)

Cheers!

Yeah definitely need to roll back the guitar vol and test her out if you have not already!
I get a nice clean overdriven tone from mine with a Stratocaster that would put a smile on Jimi's face
hehee!

Very nice!
Those are imo one of the best fuzz pedals.
I made one on vero board using sb oc75s with the mojo parts and just love it. I also settled on the professional Mk II version and am satisfied with sb transistors!

cheers!

Build Reports / Mudbunny build <Civil War>
October 10, 2012, 05:58:54 PM
Finished this one up last night and tested today with my deluxe reverb RI and it is pretty sweet!
Gobs of distortion out of the beast and I sort of like the tone knob set to about 8oclock-ish to get those mids back in there...

Will send gut shot sometime but here are some clips... excuse the sloppy playing LOL

and with the Kingslayer pushing the front in (MIDS!)

I am still amazed you can cram that mudbunny into a 1590B

Thanks all!

So far I have made a tonebender pro MK II with OC75's and a Mk 1.5 using vero boards and I have no issues with them at all.
Good job on the MFZ-1
I have a purple plexi from lVlark that I am still working on, but I keep getting distracted making madbean pedals! (boneyard, kingslayer, mudbunny)
RAH coming this week that may get my attention over the purple plexi LOL

never ending list!

Cheers!
