But I can never seem to find any!  Every time I come across someone who makes 'em, it turns out I'm six months too late and they don't make 'em any more.  Where are you guys getting your sweet finished enclosures fromthese days?

Well, I guess that comes down to the design process. Can't really say much yet until I've had time to dig into it. But, my goal would be to offer up something that has a range of tones. Maybe something  like the Top Boost.

Two thumbs' up to that!

Nice job!  Well done on the PCB etching job, very clean.  The decal looks great too.  I'm gonna have to give decals a go, they just look so sharp when done right.

Would it be possible to put a link to your home page on the forum main page?  It would make navigating to look at the project docs a little easier.  ;D

+1!

I'll be using these guys to record lots of sound samples for the projects at some point in the future.

I AM ÜBER JEALOUS.  Those are phenomenal amps.  Especially at such a great price.

I like that Pedal Enclosures enclosure...

I felt like I was working for the department of redundancy department for a second there.

Jacob

HAH!

Definitely a great enclosure!  Where'd you find that, Fastocker?

Dude, not as bad as you think!  I thought 1590B's were tough to work with when I did my Krankosaurus builds, about to do a few Slamboxes in 1590A's myself soon.  Kudos to you for giving it a go.

I'll tell you what I did, though.  I searched for and downloaded the official spec sheets for the 1590A enclosure, 1/4" jacks, DC jack, 3DPT switch, a pot and the Slambox PCB so I could create a mockup of the build.  Opened everything up in Photoshop, gave each component a different color and sized it as accurately to real-world dimensions as I could.  Now I've got a fairly accurate drilling template for when I do my Slambox builds.  I'm positive I'll still have some eyeballing to do when prepping the enclosures, but I feel much more confident about it now.

If you want to give it another go I'd be happy to send you the file as a .pdf.  Let me know.

Honestly, not a bad effort for your first 1590A box, man.  Don't be so hard on yourself.  :)

Thanks everyone. I'm back now, and this is all behind us (the family). The service was wonderful, and we are sad, but ready to move on to the next chapter in our family life. Grandpa was an incredible guy...my favorite person in the world. That was the last thing I said to him, too. WWII vet, didn't finish high school, started out in coal mines and made his way up to vice president of a major coal company and president of another. Fun, and full of life. My world is a little more gray without him, but the memories live on :)

A toast to your Grandpa.  Glad your heart is feeling positive & uplifted.

Three overdrives (Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive, two Ibanez TS7 Tone Lok Tubescreamers) and a Krankosaurus build I call the Marsh Box.

Interested in an overdrive with a different voicing, would love to try the Timmy.  Have nearly enough info to build one, just debating if I want to open up that can of worms.  Friend of mine has one and loves it, wants a second so he'd be interested if I can build one.

both the body and the bushing dia are different, but it refers to the lug spacing. if using the solid shaft, then the shafts are the same, you can use set screw knobs made for 1/4" shaft.

btw, mouser now has reverse audio taper----look on the 16mm page.

Yeah, I was wayyyy off as to what the 16mm vs. 24mm meant. =) I took the knobs off a Krank build I did and fit one of the new knobs I got on it, fit snugly & perfectly.

Tell you what, I always have trouble finding stuff on Mouser's site, sooooo much stuff and hard to navigate.  Bleh.  Just me, I guess.  Thanks!

From BYOC's Stephen's tips for a successful build:

Not trying to be condescending! This thread contains so much good info. I re-read it every 3 - 6 months just to make sure I'm not taking the long way around the barn.

Two thumbs' up, thanks for posting such a great resource.  I've built four Krankosauruses & just started on a few Slamboxes with a friend of mine, and I'm still learning tips & tricks to make the process cleaner & better overall.  That thread is a gold mine of good info.

Those are some great-looking builds, man.  And let me say, absolute genius mounting the Zombii's PCB with Velcro.  I don't think I ever would have thought of that.  That's just brilliant!  Simple and effective!

I'm confused... I didn't think there was a difference between the shafts. 24mm and 16mm refers to the wafer inside the pot. There are different types of shafts, but it isn't the size of the pot that's the difference.

Jacob

Well, if that's right, I'll be saved a lot of trouble.  :P  ;D
