If the tubes and sockets aren't the culprits, then the next thought would be checking the filter caps. If it has the Fender typical IC caps they are a bit notorious for not holding out well and the insulation might be breaking down inside., or even visibly leaking. F&T caps for the win would be an upgrade anyway.

I would guess checking the output and rectifier tube first would be the easiest to eliminate that as a cause, if you have spares handy.
Could also be a wee bit of arcing on tube sockets maybe, so if you don't have spare tubes to check I would take the tubes out and back in again, maybe a bit of contact cleaner on sockets and give them a bit of a wiggle when putting back in.

Excellent, looks really great how it comes together! 8)

The initial tapping of thread into acrylic wasn't quite strong enough in my opinion, so I went and put those brass 3mm thread inserts into it, will work better for sure.

More wiring done, relay is in, momentary switch wired up and status LED is in acrylic front piece.

I told ya it would be pic heavy.... ;)

... and another cherry burst fitting to your pedal finish, this one on an Ash body.

And here's the momentary switch for relay switching glued into place with some epoxy.

And under pressure it just triggers the switch.

Thanks for comments guys, glad you enjoy my mucking around!

Next we need a light shield, right?
So I thin piece of alu (0.5mm thick and fold it into a wee box 20x20mm by 10mm high should do the trick.

It's thin enough to cut with a pair of scissor, then I score the folding lines lightly with a box cutter knife so they fold nicely.

Ready to fold:

Cute, in'it?

I've got a burst to offer as well....

Another day another switch in, or two. Pots wired up too.
I also decided to try some of the mods that Kastle (aka Brane) posted here yonks ago, I haven't seen him around for a long time, so if you read this, big shout out.
Mods are namely:

  • Modded vintage input for megavibe type (omit R2 and change R1 for 100K)
Changed speed pot range so I can get faster speeds and slower too (Change R52 to 470R and jumper R54)
putting rate LED into acrylic bottom plate, connect in place of R 43

Well Dan thanks for the kind words and turning the board into this flippin awesome build, looks fab!
Great burst indeed and I am a sucker for classic bursts. Dig it!

Great work both Dan and Stephan! I agree that the sunburst looks amazing and stands on its own. Is that a 555 relay scheme, or is it using a PIC uC?
Relay is PIC based on a slightly modified Coda relay bypass system.

Absolutely fabulous and the graphics are epic! Is that airbrush technique or how did you do the look on it? Looks great!
