Build Reports / Fuzz Face
July 13, 2013, 12:46:44 AM
Fuzz Face with the contour control from the FT 69 and a road rage.  The transistors a continental set from small bear.  It also has a switch for the input cap and a 250kA volume control.

I gave up after trying to fix the paint 3 times.  It just kept crackling when I applied the clear coat.  I think the primer is causing the problem.  But I. Had already applied the decals and didn't want to reprint them.

Build Reports / Worthog (current lover)

Just a current lover.  The only mod I did was to add a separate depth control for the filter mode.  ( I highly recommend it!)

Build Reports / Zp sdx

Zero point sdx.  Still tweaking the feedback settings.  its different between modes but just enjoying it for now.  Very cool pedal.  Currently I have the momentary connected to fdbk 2 lug and gnd to kill the feedback , but I might set it up the other way.  ( to allow feedback)

I just built a crying time lfo wah and I'm having one small issue.  I am getting a ticking sound in about the last quarter of the depth control.  I used a 100uf cap for the lfo filter cap instead of the 47uf listed in Jon's layout, so I don't think that's the cause.

The only thing I can think is that the transistor or that the external rate led and/or the vactrol led are causing the problem.  But that's just a wild uneducated guess.  Anyone know what it could be and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

General Questions / Harbinger 1 power questions
April 11, 2013, 12:26:24 AM
Sorry if this has already been asked but I have 2 questions on the harbinger 1.  I haven't decided how I want to power it yet.

1: with an 18v supply, if I populate the filter section, will I be able to use both regulated and non-regulated power supplies?

2: is their is less headroom using a 9v supply?

Thanks in advance.

I was trying to find a way to make the modulation on the zp sdx sweep unevenly like a univibe compared to a phaser and thought about this mod by Mark Hammer.

"  The Ross actually uses anLM13600 to implement the same LFO circuit that the first issue Small Stone used with a pair of CA3094 chips.  As you know the SS eventually changed from 6 chips to 5.  Looking at the original Small Stone LFO, I decided to try out some things included there and they work very nicely.  I run a 22uf-47uf cap to ground from the LM13600 side of the 10k LFO resistor that goes to pins 1 and 16.  This adds some lag to the turnaround time at the high point of the sweep at the fastest speeds."

Maybe I am just hearing things but it seems to change the lfo sweep ever so slightly on the modulation section of the sdx.

Anyone have other ways to change the sweep of the lfo to make it sound more "random" or warbled?
I connected a 47uf cap from lug 3 of the depth control to groung.

What's the orientation for a button type 2n3565?  Can't find data sheet.
