That's a great looking pedal, EBK!

I looked through my build reports just to find that I didn't build much this year. I was pretty busy helping others develop their products and designing PCBS for them to devote much time for myself. The time I had to build was spent building a guitar from scratch and hot-rodding a Squier. I played around on Eagle quite a bit before summer since I was teaching from home and would find a ton of one-armed down time while holding a sleeping toddler. Maybe those projects will come to fruition in 2021. We shall see.

I am looking forward to what others will bring to the contest though!

Sounds like a pretty good year to me!

I'm using this. I bought it at Michael's craft store online
Same here, I got it at the hardware store though. Lowe's has got Parker's Glaze or or Parks or something.  I used that a lot too, the hardware store is now closer to me.

I have built five pedals this year.  Would be at least one more build if the USPS wasn't still crippled and could get my parts orders to me.  ::)  To make things easier, my BOTY entry will be the pedal that has the year written across its face.  It is, after all a build "of the year", which amuses me.  ;D

But, yeah, the first pedal I completed this year seems so long ago it is as if I did it in a past life.  It has been an unusually long, blurry year.  Exhausting on many fronts.
I love it!!!

How many of you had to dig through build reports to see what you built this year for the contest?

I like the graphics. How did you do the wrap around?

Honestly, I've been doing this long enough that you'd think I'd figure it out.  I'll try the knob trick though because I really only use a few different sizes.

Jimi, this one is the PedalPCB Caesar, which is a clone of the Walrus Audio Julia.  I blatantly ripped of the graphics.  It's a nice variation on the CE-2 with added blend, the option to use Sine or Triangle for the LFO, and a nice touch is being able to set the delay time (which kinda pushes it into the BF-2 flanger zone).  As long as I've been hanging around here I've never built up a PorkBarrel.  It's on the bench now and I'm looking forward to comparing them.  My original CE-2 got sold a very long time ago.
Wow, sounds neat. I've never built the pork barrel either (that I can remember anyway), but I did build the BYOC chorus, which sounds fantastic on bass. It started on my board the whole time I was gigging. I used it on slow songs to kind of fill space in a 3 piece band.

Here's one I did last night.  It's a laser decal.

Outside of the fact that I had the text too close to the knobs you can see that tightening down the footswitch knob raised the decal at the bottom.  I pin-holed it and brushed on more floor polish but can't get it to settle down.  Up around the toggle switch I was much more careful and didn't disturb it.

Still, I think it's a clean and non-smelly alternative.  I'd think if you have a sprayed topcoat on the decals you'd be fine.  The floor polish shouldn't attack the topcoat on the decal.  But then again...you're still spraying that smelly topcoat...
The labeling is probably my most common error. Is that like a keenly green teeth or some other funky chorus?

That's where the vector pak comes in handy, place the knobs on your artwork then fit the lettering to the knobs, delete the knob before printing. Then its just a matter of putting the decal on the enclosure straight.
dave
Yeah, that's where the lazy comes in. Ah, it'll be alright....sometimes my brain tricks me into thinking the label is way too low.

Nice! Broken resistors are sure hard to spot. I once had one that wouldn't show up until the pedal warmed up a little bit. Drove me mad.

It's highly unlikely the caps are the issue unless you melted them. Check all your parts and orientations. Reflow all of your solder joints. This usually fixes about 90% of problems. It will be a little easier to look over instead of guessing once you have those pics up.

thanks y'all. I'm not sure I like a 1590a under foot either. They seem to want to flip on me.
If you put them in a pedal board, Velcro will do the trick.

That looks fantastic. Well done.

Now that I can build a 1590a pretty well, I have no desire to do it. Little bugger makes me want to throw them sometimes. I built a cave sweeper on Vero just for giggles.

I can't imagine that would be easier than pouring Envirotex on top of the enclosure. It's really not as difficult as some make it out to be.  Like anything, there is a learning curve, but I rarely have issues. Just pour way less than you need and use a stirrer stick to tease it out to the edges. Add more as needed.  Lifting decals also shouldn't be an issue if you drill first and plug holes with painters tape before pouring.  Just make sure to use a step bit to drill through epoxy when finished.

Can you apply thin coats with a foam brush, or does that create issues?
I think that would cause issues and end up being way more hassle than the previously mentioned method. I use enviro using the stirrer stick method. The hardest part is waiting the 72 hours for it to be rock solid.
