That's fantastic to hear man. No matter how good you are, there's always one better. Glad you decided to do it.

When I pour, I do a thin line right down the middle and then spread it with a tongue depressor looking thing I got a bag of from hobby lobby. If it looks like it isn't enough, it is.

I use an ex's to do cut off the run down. It peels pretty easily. If the enclosure is painted, the paint will come with it though.

I suspect it won't make such a difference with chunky through hole components, though.

I found it helped with my through hole stuff as well. It holds heat like a champ, and I find it more "comfortable" to use than my old pencil iron, both of which helped me clean up my somewhat shaky technique.

Your mileage may vary of course, but I love my 888 (though I really should replace the brass sponge one of these days, it's getting rather lumpy)
I can attest to this, the temperature is constant, makes things quicker.

I'm putting together a basic op amp based clean boost and thoughts I might experiment adding a clipping indicator circuit to show when the op amp is close to or is clipping the signal. Surprise, surprise.

An online search found plenty for higher voltage power amps but nothing useful in regards to a 9-volt, simple op amp circuit à la the MXR Micro Amp.

Does anybody know of a simple, yet effective circuit or way of accomplishing this?
The ginger uses leds for clipping and will light up if they are clipped hard enough.

Last year I learned to do the frets a completely different way than I've seen before.  If you don't already have the tools most people use then it might save you some money. Only tools needed were sandpaper, a fret rocker, and a set of micro mesh sanding sheets. The crowning and polishing are incorporated into basically the same step.
I'm listening....

Nice job with the neck. Looks like the string are pretty even on the fret board on both ends.

ok so drilling the neck on is scary  :o :o
Yeah it is, you can plug is and try again though! I wouldn't do that more than once.

Hey Jimi

As luck would have it, my neighbour had a drill press which I used, seems like its gone together as good as I can make it (!) first time :)
That's awesome. I used my press on mine. The first couple guitars I built were hand drilled, huge difference.
