Thank you for the replies. I chose this forum because some can get so snarky.

I did have to run a jumper instead of trying to use the trace.

Sound is getting through now and the volume and toggle is having an effect, BUT the signal is very weak. The bypass signal is louder.

I'm going to re-check the wiring again. Thanks!
I know what you're saying, we're all about learning in these parts.

The input and output jacks need to be desired. The stereo goes on the input. If you're not going to use a battery, I'd leave the the third solder lug empty.

What transistor came with the pedal? In the pictures, I don't see one.

I took it out while soldering. It's an OC76. The center lug of the volume pot was intermittent. The traces were torn off. I had to scrape the board to expose a trace and solder the lug to it on the component side. I thought I was going to burn stuff up soldering so I took the transistor out.

I'll start working on it again here in a little bit.
For future reference, you could just run a jumper to the next component in line.

I did notice there are three purple wires going to the output jack, whereas in the BYOC instructions, it only shows two. It looks like the DC input jack in your pictures is being grounded to the output jack. I would suggest changing it to match how BYOC wired things up in their build document. It can be very easy to mess up the grounding scheme with PNP transistors. Your pedal should be running positive ground.
That is weird, the input and output jacks were reversed. the stereo jack should to the input. And that's only if a battery was going to be used.

Are you planning on doing color or is it going to be just a black graphic? If you are not doing a color graphic might I suggest an alternative. Reverse the image and iron it on like you would an etch. Then just leave it. Clear coat over it and voila! A transferred image that is tough as nails and looks like a silk screen. I've done this loads of times and it looks great and no one will know the better.

That's pretty good. Can you do colors or just black?

I watch a lot of stitch method. Ian Stitch is kind of an every day guy. He's down on my level anyway.

There's a post somewhere that's says that's right, the zero was a mistake.

I guess I should have pointed out that the 5457 hfe definitely has to be around 1.7. I'm still troubleshooting mine.

This whole plague has put a damper on all the great summertime live music, totally bummed about it.

Thanks guys, pretty sure my mate will be really chuffed with this when he gets it!

If he isn't, send it to me, I'll be chuffed for it!

Open Discussion / New pedal day.... bad news...

I used a digital unit on stage for a couple of years. Sure they're easier to manage, but IMHO, they sound so sterile.  I switched back to pedals for the warm analog sound you get from parts making the sounds,. The limitations of the parts and the sometimes usable unintended sounds you can get really is my niche. Of course, I'm almost 50 and I grew up with 70s Metal after the terrible disco years and before the horrible pop years.

That's exactly how you count the lugs, yes.

I don't need any of the 150 pedals I've built, but man do I want them.

I have to agree. I look at etched enclosures in build reports with envy, but I have never worked up the nerve to try it.  Years ago I etched 2 PCBs: one came out perfect and the other was a disaster.  I never tried again.
Honestly, I tried it because I could easily have the stuff I needed delivered, and the acid magic requires no mixing. The HP paper made all the difference. I'd etch PCBs if it wasn't for all that drilling. I might one day.

Have you been able to accrue any progress on this pedal? Anything new to report?
Nope, not yet.
