I use water slide with a white background rather than clear. Colors pop more.

Awesome walnut "The Paul" model. I have one from before they were made by firebrand. Those things have sustain for dayz. There's also a "The SG" that are hard to come by.

Maybe. Can you elaborate?  Do you mean run a guitar pedal in the effects loop of the mixer channel his vocal mic is plugged into?
That's about the size of it. Otherwise, you'd need a direct box type device, and then suddenly, you're adding up equipment to carry just for that one effect.
