I didn't find it to roll off any eq, I use a five strong as well, although I found a 4 string and a hip shot to be as useful and lighter. There really isn't much you can do to compress the low b string though.

so that may be the one right, yes theere are nothing to do with that sting but, if you find it nice then must be good, i realy dont know bout compressor, i tried one once and with distortions it ws way too tight
True story, some overdrives you can run into a compressor and some don't react well.  For bass it just smooths out the unwanted rumble if you do it right.

Nope, used an engineers thumb, I'd say that's got a great sound. Used an afterlife, used a rotten comp, a byoc opti comp. I planned on building the analog man comp. Orange squeezer in to a Rossi believe. Used a 4 knob Ross comp that pickdropper sells

Never used a keely, orange squeezer really depends on your style / application. I've built many but I really like the ehx soul preacher. I've not found a clone of it yet,. Bear hug is nice. As a bass player, I find too many knobs tedious when it comes to live applications.

So I have an NO spdt soft touch for the liquid mercury  phaser. My question is this, the NO designation means normally off or open, so there's no continuity between the lugs until I he stomp is pressed,, or do I have it backwards?

All rack mount, a single processor, I used a v-amp pro for years, served me well.

Do you have bypass signal? Sounds like a grounding issue, what do you have it grounded to outside the box?

First thing I would do is check/reflow all your wiring connections on the board and hardware (jacks, switches, etc.) Maybe try a different  power supply, too. Could you post a gut shot?
This reflow all of your solder joints. After 2 years or so, I still miss occasionally.

Later releases of audacity were notorious for hiss but work in a pinch. I have a small recorder like the zoom hd7 I believe it is, works great and you can plug it in to a pc. Not fabulous, but it works. I use a FireWire rack mount unit, it was cheap at 179 probably an investment down the road though.
