I looked at some smd parts I have and I thought, what are those tiny metal flakes??? Crap that's smd. I need to jump in, but I'm skeered!!!

Just jump in.  The water's shallow.  You may hit your head at first, but you'll adjust quickly.
I'll make it my next build. Gotta watch some YouTube videos and see how it's done I guess.

Not as bad as mine. Modded a TS for a friend, but after my easy 2 resistor mod it didn't work. It had already been modded to hell by a previous person with a ton of nasty residue on the solder joints so I cleaned some of them up. After I put it back together I figured I killed something when I was cleaning up the joints because it wouldn't work bypassed or not! After months of sitting in a box and a couple quick looks I had switched the input and output jacks to the opposite side when I was putting it back together! Durrrr
Ahahahahahahaha that's awesome. I did that recently on a Fuzz Ion, I'm not sure if I put the board upside down on the stomp.

I have a nano small stone I got from rej, so if you need to see pics, I'm down with that. First off, if it's a phaser, it's worth building, so down limit yourself. Bean has th stage fright that's a 5/6 stage phaser. tonepad has the ross phaser that's expandable, I have  4 stage and an 8 stage. I have the spaceharp that I am going to build shortly as well as the ehx 45 and 90 clones from tonepad.

Remove the pt2399 and put it back in and see if it does it again.

You didn't use those wizard's beard diodes. Just plain old human made ones.

Agreed.... :(

I've at least took the time to build it on a card table.

For the laugh....:

Have you compared the sound versus being built on a wooden table?  ;D

Are there extra LED or pot shaft pilot holes under the bottom edge of the volume and tone control knobs?
This!

So a while back, I built a noisy cricket out of vero, and after a week, it just stopped working. I did some basic troubleshooting, and then tossed it in to the box of fail and been scavenging parts from it, it was my first Vero, and I just figured I'd screwed something up somehow. Fast forward to today, I boxed up a wah, and scavenged an mpf102 from said cricket, the wah wasn't working right, and after some troubleshooting and f'ing up an inductor, I figured it out. It was that mpf102 that I got from the noisy cricket. 2 mysteries solved. Do those things go bad for no reason?

Haven't learned how to use the braid yet.

Need to try it some more
Youtube is where I learned. I bought some cause the tips for my desoldering iron are a little tedious to find.

That looks great! Silver is a great contrast to the purple. I wish I would have done that in the purple plexi I did.

What's it being used for?
Wah pedal

That's a type of effect, not a specific circuit or function. What's it being used for in the wah pedal? Are you building the Weener and using it for Q3?
Sorry Jon it's the MoWah fron GPCB the mpf102s act as buffers in this particular application.

I only have 1 mpf102 and I need one more for a wah, whats a good substitution short of pulling it out of another pedal while I order more?
