The regulator should be putting out 5v so start there, either it's fried or something is miswired to it, short, in backwards...

Why not just give a quick sanding to smooth things out then re-prime and paint?

Mac Walker over at DIYSB had something similar. 48 shipped for 4 boxes US.

End of last month he posted here that they're now 5 for $50, unfortunately only to continental US, but i managed to get four before the shipping embargo and they are really nice, a flat roomy wedge.

There is another US only option on ebay for steel enclosures, search there under Superfuzz.

I think that's someone that bought the 10 pack and is trying to split them off.

Aaah, ok, never thought of that, still... good deal on some nice enclosures.

To throw a wrench at the monkey....

Looking at how the 2 pieces fit together, it looks like you will HAVE to use foot bumpers of some sort as the only way to secure both pieces of the enclosure together will mean having the screw heads exposed at the bottom  :-\

Any way you could incorporate some small-ish tabs on the bottom to give it a hinged open/close ability?

If the bottom lips of the centre section had tabs on each side perpendicular the that bottom lip, the two pieces could secured through the side rather then up through the bottom and then the back set of screws could function as a hinge.

Looks like my wife will be happy that Tobacco burst finished in the lead...

I'm still undecided. I was hoping for a landslide.

General Questions / Re: projects current draws
February 04, 2014, 01:09:52 PM
My rebote is about 23ma and i saw a post somewhere that showed a similar value. LED current draw can play a huge part in a pedals needs, so peoples results could vary widely.

I put together a little box with a one ohm resistor between two power jacks, measure the (m)voltage drop across the resistor and it's a direct transfer to mA's.

Open Discussion / Re: how to fix an incorrect hole?
February 02, 2014, 04:12:18 PM
There used to be a tutorial on Small Bear for isolating a metal power jack- in essence drill an oversized hole for the jack, repair the hole with Bondo then redrill in the center of your Bondo patch the correct sized hole for the power jack and you now have an isolated metal power jack. How durable it proved to be, no idea (he sells shoulder washers for the job now), as long as the entire hole is only through one of the materials there should have no problems drilling.

Open Discussion / Re: color pcb in Europe?

abcfab's shipping to Canada is almost as bad as Europe, one piece copperclad, red 4×6", $1.75- shipping to Canada $16.04, Germany for example was $17.80 but it looks as if every European country has a different rate, so it may be far worse. They really don't want out of country business.

The pcb materials take paint well just be sure they're non-conductive, i've used acrylics for years with no issues. Presensitized boards seem to only come in this repulsive green/brown colour that i couldn't bear to look at, could never find any of the nicely coloured stuff so paint hides the ugly.

If it's an icky glop of hardened  flux it will pop off with the encouragement of a dental pick, no nasty chemicals or sticky mess. For the most part i can only see the flux if a use a 10× magnifier to examine the pads and traces.

Dental pick works great for cleaning flux off switch, pot and jack lugs, eyelets, turrets etc... Endless uses for picks, always reaching for it to do something.
