Only thing on my board I haven't built is the Boss TU3 tuner. That is until I get a strymon delay...

Seconded! I usually snip them off so they don't short anything out.

What about the pinout? I have had this happen when I didn't have the correct pinout.

Build Reports / Pair of Kings "Kingslayer"
November 20, 2012, 03:36:16 PM
Here is my protoboard and the new Kingslayer board I built up. Both have bat41's and 1n34's at the moment but I am looking forward to swapping out some diodes. I also want to try some other IC's because one of them (don't remember at the moment) is having a fizzy/splatty decay at the end of the notes.

But, awesome circuit. The gold hammertone is stock. The darker rosemary hammertone has a 250kb gain pot and is wired for true bypass. This of course oscillates at extreme settings so I will swap it out for a 200kb or if I ever get the hang of modifying pot tapers, I will do that.

Wow you got that fast dude!

I have not had any trouble with my meter as of yet and it seems to be very accurate. Have you been zeroing it when you turn it on?

I don't know how to put this into an enclosure without having it be a PITA! Let me know if you do.

Snow week for me as well in Lethbridge. Southern Alberta got hit hard. I did completely overhaul and rebuild my tweed deluxe though.
I would like to share my FB post from gigging this weekend:

"Does not get paid to play guitar. I get paid to load gear out at 2am in -26C weather. (That's -7.6F for my Merican friends)"

Thats awesome dude!!! My firefly did not come out that nice!

Fabulous

I actually have yet to box it up. Just use it on my desk and put it away. I have been too lazy to use a dremel and cut out a square hole for the screen.

Obscene dude. Great job!

Well for what its worth the first two numbers are the same as the first two bands on a resistor code. The third number is how many zeros go after the numbers.

So, the blue 561 cap is "56" with one zero, so it is 560pf
the caps that just have 2 digits are low values, so the cap with just "10" on it is a 10pf cap

In my experience multimeters aren't great for cap values. Thats why I bought this project at spark upon recommendation from another forum member.

Works great!

General Questions / Re: Questions about CAPS
November 10, 2012, 01:49:44 PM
You can follow the same guidelines as the serenity doc. But in general:
For "pf" values you can use ceramic caps or multilayer ceramic caps
for "n" values I generally use film caps
for "uf" values I use electrolytic or tantalum caps

Remember to order at least 25v voltage rating to be safe. Anything above is fine but the physical size of the cap gets larger.

Also, when ordering remember the conversions that people use when talking about cap values
1000pf = 0.001n
0.01 = 10n
0.1 = 100n

Happy Building!
