Straight xylene does work, Ive used it (I prefer pnp blue which I have at work). Make sure you use it under a hood, or with a lot, a lot of ventilation; a small spill out of the jug will make you rather high.

I believe they are functionally the same, except the ones in the standard transistor package can dissipate less wattage. Using the large regulator shouldnt be a problem if it fits, I use them all the time cause I accidentally brought a 100 from mouser.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: theremin aluminium box

I dont think a metal enclosure will work well. It will radically change the tuning, as the metal will have a fair amount of capacitance with the antennas, more than your hand which is trying to play it.

Russian mp38a, mp35 are both good if you are making enough projects to cover shipping from eastern europe.

General Questions / Re: grease me up!
June 17, 2014, 05:16:26 PM
Thermal grease is used between an IC and its heatsink for better thermal contact. Its not used in any pedal building context I know of. Often used on computers and such, though im sure it could be useful if building a power supply or something. Pre injection swabs are just alcohol soaked pads. For cleaning I suppose?

The pepper spray works best first in the chain. You lose some of its specialness when its behind other effects.

Possibly a loose connection aggravated by moving the pedal around? Is signal getting shorted to ground (check continuity?)? Check connections to the rotary, pots, and jacks. Id rule those out first.

Ive used a theremin, which is a near line level instrument on a nautilus, and it worked fine. I doubt plugging a bass in would do anything.

Thanks! The Amphenol Spectra Strip is cheap enough, that looks perfect. Is 26awg durable enough, have you had any issues with internal breaks or anything?

Open Discussion / Source of 3 conductor (parallel) wire
January 15, 2014, 06:32:51 PM
My google-fu is failing me. Does anyone know of a good source (im in the usa) for a spool of wire that is  the 3 wires that are bound together in parallel, that ive seen in nice builds for wiring off board pots? Or even what its called? I really need to work on the cleanliness of my builds.

Is there an advantage to either charge pump other than cost?

Puzzle glue, is just like a starch based white glue, no? If so, i would doubt it will hold up to heavy use/ touring.

There is a schematic on fsb, and an unconfirmed layout.
