I think I woke up yesterday in the 90's, lol. I pushed a TS808 into a Cosmo into a Blues Junior amp, and I was very surprised at the tone..very 90's rock (think Bush) tone, imo.

So I'm already thinking ahead, and I want to do the univibe mods to the Smoothie (phase 45). I guess my question is, madbean, is the smoothie going to be a direct clone of the P45, and am I going to be able to do the univibe cap mods to the circuit? (Not going into a 1590A if I go through with these mods)
Thanks

Open Discussion / stumbled across a spare 1590bb

It has 2 LED, 3 knob, 2 foot switches. I'm trying to figure out what I can put in it. Maybe rehouse my fatpants, make it 1 knob since the fat is always cranked, and then something else? Or something else entirely different? What would you do with this enclosure?

General Questions / What to build next...
March 02, 2012, 10:11:12 AM
I've got dirt taken care of, and just finished my Sea Urchin. I'm craving a phasey-univiby sorta deal, or some orther sort of modulation. Maybe a Phase 45 with a univibe switch? What say you, MB Forum?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Sea Urchin problem..
February 25, 2012, 02:36:07 PM
So I have an odd issue. My Sea Urchin works for about 10 minutes, then loses all delay, and won't work anymore. I initially thought it was an LM7805 issue, so I changed it out, as well as changing out the PT2399, but no dice. Any ideas?

Build Reports / Sea Urchin Delay

Bought a fabbed sea urchin board from gtr2 a while back, finally built it up. I gotta say, this is by far my cleanest wiring job yet. I still have a long way to go, but it's getting there.  Used a mammoth 3dpt board just to see how I like it..it's not bad. I feel like it makes things a little bit cleaner.

Open Discussion / 9v jack from mouser

Im about to place an order on Mouser, and I can't seem to find any 9v jacks that would suit our needs. Anyone have a link to one?

Open Discussion / Feedback loops...what are they?
February 06, 2012, 02:55:45 PM
Effects loops and feedback loops. I often see them in modulation/delay/reverb pedals. What are they/what do they do? I know what an effects loop is in an amp, but not sure how that would apply to a pedal. Thanks!

Tech Help - Projects Page / 9v issue
February 06, 2012, 11:23:25 AM
So backstory: my pedals got a bit waterdamaged. My basement flooded, and my pedalboard got submerged. I managed to save the majority of my stuff, but my pots became all scratchy. Today, I decided to not be lazy and use Deoxit on the pots. Worked wonders.

I plug in my Serendipity to make sure all is well, and my 9v stops working. I know it's the 9v jack because with a battery, the pedal works fine. Any tricks on how I can fix this? I unfortunately do not have another 9v jack that I can replace it with.

Open Discussion / HELP ME WITH CALCULUS

x=f(p)=(264-2p^2)^3/2

I need to find the elasticity of demand at a given point, p.

E(p)= -pf`(p)/f(p), right?

When I derive f(p), I get 3/2(264-2p^2)^1/2*-4p, which simplifies to -6p(264-2p^2)^1/2. Is this as simplified as it can go? I am so lost as to where to start with this...

Open Discussion / 3 knob, 2 footswitch pedal enclosure

I have one of these just sitting around. Help me decide what I should build...I have no idea, really  :-\

between tonefx, madbean, guitarpcb, vero layouts, and a plethora of other DIY pedal resources, what have you built the most of, for personal use? Obviously, if you are running a pedal business, you build what the customer wants, but for your own enjoyment, what have you built the most of?

I realized I am a dirt junky. Of the 6 madbean layouts i've built, I have built 1 Pork Barrel. The other 5 are the Fatpants (boost) Serendipity (Zen Drive) Cosmopolitan (Screwdriver) Uproar (Riot) and Mud Bunny (Big Muff)

I need to venture out more. Thinking about building an Aqua Boy, but alas they went out of production :(

So I've been doing some research, and the Weber Mini mass headphone out apparently sounds crappy. I was thinking this, then:

Amp -> Weber Mini Mass-> Line out from Mini Mass to Speaker emulator -> Headphone amp->Headphones. Will this work?

Open Discussion / Blues Junior for Marshall Class 5?
January 07, 2012, 05:12:00 PM
So I am moving into an apartment next month, and I have the opportunity to trade my blues junior for a marshall class 5. Would you do it? I have to admit, the attenuation and headphone out really appeals to me, but I do also like my clean tones.

Audio/Video Demos / Cosmopolitan demo
January 06, 2012, 11:14:27 AM
Really crappy audio. I have a new recorder coming in soon, so hopefully the sound quality improves :D

This is a shoutout to JakeFuzz, who helped me big time with my cosmo build, so I "borrowed" his Maggotbrain chord progression, as well as liberal amounts of wah. Other effects include a Fatpants that is always on and a cheapo Biyang delay (PT2399 chipset)

Tech Help - Projects Page / No output on cosmpolitan
December 30, 2011, 11:26:56 AM
I have 0 output on my cosmo, but bypass signal works fine. LED lights up when I hit the switch, but I get no sound at all. Any ideas? I'm about to hit it with a signal tester, but I would like to have your input on it as well.

So i have this PT2399 Biyang delay. Not bad, serves its purpose. However, when I'm playing with just the fatpants and delay, the delay repeats get drastically shorter. When the fatpants is off, or when I hit my Serendipity on, the delay repeats go back to normal. Any idea what this could be? Impedence, maybe? Phase inversion? I dunno, I'm just talking out of my butt. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with it  ???

Build Reports / Cosmopolitan build, almost finished!
December 27, 2011, 02:56:09 PM
I traded a sunking board for this cosmo board with Comfort Player, and built it up! Just need an NPN ge now.

Here are the gut pics; the enclosure is nothing fancy, just a prepainted mammoth 125b.
