Tech Help - Projects Page / Madbean Total Recall question
February 12, 2019, 03:09:30 PM
Hey all,

I built a Total Recall and biased it per the revised instructions (pin 7 and 14/15 of the V571 for Gain 2). It works but...it just doesn't feel right. I can get self oscillation, but that's not until like max feedback. I only get one or two repeats until the feedback pot is at the halfway mark. Any thoughts?

On top of that, I feel like the repeats are very...abrupt? Is that normal? The only other analog delay I have to compare to is the Aqua Boy I built, and the repeats seem much more organic.

Thanks all1

Tech Help - Projects Page / Lunar Module cap substitution
December 31, 2014, 03:01:25 PM
Hey all,
I'm building a Lunar Module, and C13 calls for a 2n; however, I have a 2n2. Do you think it will adversely affect the pedal if I make that substitution?

I've been playing piano since I was 4. I also play saxophone (alto) and drums

Open Discussion / Re: Neck pickup for strat
June 03, 2014, 12:12:20 PM
I've had good luck with GFS pickups. GFS is one of those brands that you either love or love to hate. My other strat is loaded with GFS humbuckers, and while not on the same level as the boutique winders, they definitely don't sound bad. Previous to the D.Allen pickups in the strat above, I had the GFS Alnico IIs. Again, they weren't bad at all, but there was nothing "special" about them either.

I have three different sets of Dale Allen pickups and they are all great. These are my favorite

I too have D Allen pickups. I have the 60s R&Bs. LOVE the tone of them.

I agree that the Demeter is a unique compressor and adds some nice sparkle.

Just to give some unsolicited press coverage, I just ordered one of Rullywow's Demeter boards...cannot wait to build it. Looks very simple (low parts count) and all the reviews of the Demeter Compulator have been nothing short of stellar. Can't wait.

Just a heads-up: I got distortion with the ST branded 353 opamps. The Fairchilds worked great.
Thanks for the heads up, I haven't ordered the components yet, will make sure I get fairchild ic's.

12-53 on my Taylor GA4,
13-56 on my Guild Dreadnought.

Oh, that tremulus lune is piquing my interest. May have to hold off on my order until those are verified!

Any idea as to the time frame/what kind of boards (sneak preview!)? I'll hold off on ordering the QoB/Comp in case there's something interesting I want to order from the new batch :D
#27
Thanks; I will be ordering another one as well as your comp! Love the quality of your boards!

Looks great, close one with that dc jack...
Very close, but I think that adds to the tidyness.

Shout out to rullywow for a great layout!

Build Reports / Queen of what kind of clone?
May 29, 2014, 02:22:49 AM
Finished Rullywow's KOT Clone (Queen of Bone). SOUNDS. AMAZING. I have the red side as OD and the Yellow side as Dist...absolutely loving the tones I'm getting out of it. I have a JRC 4558 in the red side and an OPA2134 in the yellow, and I'm running it at 18 volts. Diodes used were 1n4148 and BA282
In addition, rullywow's breakout boards are making wiring such a breeze. It's not as neat as I'd like it to be, but I'm definitely getting better. I was going to do labels...but I kind of like the blank look.

Ignore the mismatched knobs, I'm waiting on knobbies to get here from mammoth :)
