pre-bonded hook up wire in the UK?

Hi

For a long time I have used Barrys Best Hookup wire from Guitar PCB.
It seems he no longer stock it
Sure it was pricey, but I really like it.

Anyone found similar good quality stranded core cable that is pre-bonded (flexible, but doesnt need tinning basically) in the UK?

Juansolo? Obi wan kenobi? Yoda?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure he will have some more soon. If you're on his email list, you should have gotten an email about a pre - order discount and following that, he will have more in his store at normal pricing. That's the way I took it anyway.

LaceSensor

hmm I think I opted out of his emails a while back as I didnt use his service as often as Id like and felt he did spam quite a lot, and I hate the formatting he uses to write in (!)

I will drop him a line and see when he expects it back in stock

any other sources, im all ears

I use this stuff (as recommended by Basic Audio somewhere on BYOC):

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?SKU=2290757

It's not prebonded as such, but it is 7 strands with PTFE insulation.

The insulation means no insulator melting/shrinking when soldering.

It also stays where you put it, and is really easy to work with.

Not the cheapest, but I would HIGHLY recommend it.

It's honestly the best wire I have used for building pedals (including the pre-bonded stuff)

Hi mate

Would this be the same stuff, and significantly good deal if so?

ok so not the exact same, but seems good quality wire
I dont mind the teflon vs PVC coat.

Thanks!

No that's PVC (which is a buggar for shrinking/melting).

It also doesn't state how many strands or if it is pre-tinned (it could be plain coppper).

The one I use is 7 strand 22 AWG PTFE wire (as seen on Farnell).

I'll have a quick gander on rapid to see if I can find it (always cheaper than Farnell too).

This looks interesting:

http://www.rapidonline.com/cables-connectors/30m-black-wire-22awg-01-1324

It's quoted as 'semi rigid'.

How they get it to be like that I do not know. It's possible it could be bonded so might be worth a punt.

This is the closest I could find to what I use on Rapid

http://www.rapidonline.com/cables-connectors/alpha-wire-5853-black-26awg-7-34-type-e-hu-wire-teflon-100-ft-01-5369

It's 26 AWG though.

I use 26 awg for most pedal stuff.  I generally prefer it to the thicker 22 awg.

Also just found this:

http://www.weicowire.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=184_50_87

Looks interesting.

US based (therefore not sure on shipping), but they can do 1000ft 22AWG pre-bonded in a range of colours for $61.23 (26 AWG at $48.42).

That seems quite a good deal to me.

Wire is something we all use, a lot, in every build. Therefore buying in bulk is the sensible option.

playpunk

That wire might be a nice small group buy... or maybe I could continue to do mono colored wiring

It's it's any help, I use this stuff m.rapidonline.com/ProductSearch/ModuleDetails?ModuleCode=62320

It's as cheap as chips, and works perfectly for pedal building I find.

If you look up the 1007 part number that is supplied in the kit I linked to, you can find the individual reels.

7 strand tinned copper conductor.
Ill let you know how it is.
FWIW even barrys best hookup wire shrinks a bit, I personally dont let it fuss me.

I hear you on that! I do get a little annoyed at all the messages.

juansolo

Still using our stock of solid and ribbon. Never found a good pre-bond available here.

One day I'll have to order a km of that awesome Hitachi pre-bond ribbon. But a km seemed to be the minimum order qty...

ok I bought the alpha wire dispenser with 5 coloured reels
the wire is tinned 7 copper conductor, but its not pre-bonded

the jacket doesnt shrink hardly any with my iron @380celcius
good enough!

When I work through this ill reorder a reel of the more expensive stuff.
