One for the keyboardists!

Props to Doug Tuttle for passing on the info about the WavTrigger from Robertsonics. I bought the board last Christmas whilst travelling around the US, and the box was cobbled together from some old Ikea shelves. Oh, and the little midi board was built on perf. Connect a midi keyboard to the port and you're all set to go. No more 'checking my mail' onstage. :-)

Does it do the Mellotron thing where you can only hold notes for so long (before the end of the audio tape runs out) ?

That tends to create a certain playing style...

As default, it plays whatever 16-bit stereo file you put on each note for the duration you hold down the key. No looping but you can make it do more fancy stuff with the FTDI Basic Board. The default is perfect for replicating the Mellotron though - no tinkering required, just number your sounds from 0001 to 2048 (this corresponds to midi notes set across your 16 midi banks) and put them onto a mini SD card. I set mine up so that I have a different Mellotron sound on each midi bank.

If you wanted longer note durations Alan, I guess you need to create a longer file in your DAW first.

It's basically a wonderful alternative to using a laptop. Plug it in and it's ready to go.
