And yes it works !    I tested it with my version of TS (a GGG etching layout with Keeley mods and a fat switch, 3mm LEDs, 1N914, and bypass mode)

Not sure why you refer to it as a waste of time.  I think that a good prototyping rig will actually save you a bunch of time over the long haul.
