Hey guys,

Just wondering what sort of jacks you use when mounting a pcb ABOVE in/out jacks in a 1590a?  What am i talking about?  Probably easier if i just point to an example.  Jons a Bearhug of very little brain:

Just wondering what type of jack you would need to to clear that board ontop? Will any switchcraft open style jack fit?
Cheers

Check out these: http://www.banzaimusic.com/Marshall-1-4-jack-PC-mount-mono.html
Most people use the stereo version found at small bear but they were out of stock last time I checked. There are other options but these are the most compact. If you look on the madbean project page Brian gas a 1590A baby board doc that has links to another option from snall bear, but like I said, these are better. Hope this helps!  :)

Cheers stomptown for the info.
hmmm. ok so it is a specific jack thats needed for this.  Those marshall 1/4 look really compact!  $7 each though is very pricey...I'll dig around some more, thanks again for the info.

You can get 50 of them for $12 on ebay. They're from China, but the quality is really good. I've been using them with no issues.

I'm sorry sir, we only have the regular ohms

Aha!  It seems the magic keyword search in ebay is "1/4 headphone pcb".  Thanks for the other links guys, but alas, im geographically handicapped and can not order from mouser, small bear, or most other international retailers.  It blows...

Standard Switchcraft/Neutrik enclosed jacks still leave enough room for the PCB (unless there are huge components such as big 1 uF film caps); Juansolo and pickdropper have been using them in a number if 1590A builds. But yes, the smaller enclosed jacks are your best bet if you need to fit bigger components.

There is also the Neutrik NRJ6 series: http://fr.mouser.com/_/?Keyword=NRJ6&FS=True Only 12.7 mm high, 15.7 mm wide, fully threaded nose (not necessarily better, but I don't like jacks that protrude too much), and they're cheap.

I think the listing where I got em ended. I'll try to find the seller and search their store for another listing.

After looking at my purchase history this is the same seller. Just priced a few dollars more.

Those noses are a bit fuggly :-| Oh well, should be good enough for a few (25) builds.

I think Pickdropper uses standard enclosed jacks for his 1590A builds...
