Sunday i went at CanadianTire to shop some new paint, i found this:

It's suppose to give an anodized look to aluminum, that is not what i wanted, i was searching something that would give a color shade to the matte black i use, just so the color change are subtle....

Well! They're fawking subtle because i have a hardtime seeing them.

I wanted to try that paint for these, Madbeans MudBunny and CherryBomb.

Mudbunny is built to Violet Ram's Head specs, i used 2N5089 for Q1-2-3 with hfe going from the 600 up to 800, Q4 is a MPSA18.

CSOD uses BC109 in Q1 in the 500, BC108 in Q2-3 in the 400... built to the stock values.

Mudbunny, that was suppose to have a violet shade.....

CSOD, should be some kind of blue, use your imagination!

At least the wiring came out ok.

Thanks for the pcbs MikeB!  ;D

Edit:

My buddy, Guy, came at my place this evening, perfect timing to make some crap clips but with much better playing this time :)

I like them nonetheless.

Thanks!

I'm also happy with them, but i thought they'd be less generic looking.

But!!! Stacking the Muff in front of CSOD is one of the most amazing stoner/sludge tone i ever heard and that's cool. 8)

Do they need a chrome or white base coat?  Some metallics are like that. It's possible that heat (oven) can make them less shiny too...

Ah! Don't talk to me about paint fails. I am the master. I have spent a ludicrous amount of time and money mastering this aspect of FX building. Still not there!

Looking at these builds, however, is a perfect example of a happy accident!
I wouldn't change a thing, they look amazing!

I love those paints!

But Rej, you should be aware that any paint will get less shiny if you hit it with coarse sandpaper. ;)

It usually needs to be on a polished metal surface... It's just me again with my dumb ideas. Haha

Also like the outcome of the mojo in this one, btw the fishies are 270nf, do i hear à difference? Not at all! lol

Hahaha! Thanks Bro!

I used 0000 steel wool, for once that i was gentle with them, rubbing them lightly to expose their real nature...

Seems like they love it rough! Haha

I have tried those. they are very transparent and intended to be sprayed over their metallic base color. I bet spraying them over a deep charcoal grey would work more like you intended...or they would eat the base coat leaving a disgusting wrinkled mess.

nice builds, i have also used that paint (specifically the purple one) and they look quite nice with a light coat over sanded aluminum.

You could also rough the box up, then tape off areas to paint.  Then you have new and abused on the same pedal surface.
Don't give up on the metalcast.  It is good stuff.

Don't worry, i don't give up so easily ;)

I know what i did wrong, i thought of it reversed of what i should have done....

Distressed look is kind of my «trademark» if i can say, i always have some aluminum showing, either the edges of the box or the contour of some drilling holes.

So! What i need to do is get that anodized paint on the bare enclosure first, get it baked so it stays there solid and then apply the matte black and distressed the whole thing.

If that works, having the edge, sunken leds and whatever that shows raw aluminum but in color, the goal will be achieved. Yeah! :)

i'd paint it black rough it up and then shoot the "anodize' color. it would be near impossible to sand off the black without taking the color with it.

Possible!

We'll try both ways.
