I was expecting most of you to tell me to build my own cables! DIY style!

Build your own cables, DIY style.  ;D

Good cable is cheap; the connectors are relatively cheap. With minimal effort you'll make a cable that will last indefinitely. Need a different length for today's project? Spend 10 minutes and make a new one. The old one will still work and you'll find a use for it. ;)

Maybe if you change cable length mid-gig the solderless has a big advantage. I don't gig enough to know if this is common, but I think not.

I think it has a lot to do with how often you redo your pedalboard.  Soldering cables isn't that hard, but on my large board it would be a nightmare.  With solder less, I can reconfigure the board as desired and it isn't too bad.

Personally I hate working with shielded wire of any sort. It's teasing out the woven shielding I hate.

Maybe I'm just really a simpleton on board setup. I do my pedals in linear order, so I haven't run across a need for a cable that that is exactly a certain length because something moved. I have "shorter" cables and "longer" cables for interconnections, but nothing that was made for specif pedal combination. I also don't try to hide the cabling or make every connection look exactly the same. That probably makes a difference. ;D

Yeah, if you aren't super OCD, it's a lot easier.  :-

I use bike chain links to screw my pedals into the board rather than velcro so George L's work well for me, but any movement on the board will eventually lead to a cable failure.  That said, the system is really flexible and failures are fairly rare.  I wouldn't tour with a GL setup but for my use they're nice.  If cost is an issue the GFS system is pretty nice.

The only problem I have with George L's is the cost of the plugs. I love the system because of the nice small cable, low profile plugs, ease of use etc. but the price of the plugs is a bit much. They can go faulty, for sure, and always at the worst possible time, but if you carry a wire cutter and some spare feet of cable, you can make a new one really fast. But then, I'm the type of guitar player who brakes a string during the first chorus and manages to change it before the solo........  ;) Making a new patch cable is peanuts!

I use George L's and build/cut my own.

Work great for me.

Reminds me actually, I need to order some more!

No. You'll be in the HEART of downtown assuming you're going to 1 P&G Place, and there's not a single music shop in the downtown area. If you're looking for old and interesting, Mike's Music is 15 min away in Covington, Otherwise it's to the chains.

Only when it comes to changing strings mid-song. I would not dare to compare my playing kills to somebody like EC.....

Ah, Covington, the only city in the world where I was given a police escort back to my hotel because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time...wait, that's not a good thing, is it?
