This is a custom build after a clients request.

He is playing acoustic guitar in a band context and wanted to be more versatile.

The unit has gone through a few stages which are documented here.
The first try was to use standard switches but he soon found out (what I said) that they make a lot of noise in this huge enclosure.
So we switched it out later for a Effect Control Unit when it was comming in.

So, this is what is in the unit (and the flow of signal from top to bottom)

  • TH custom Valvetizer V1.5 in the clean version using an 12AT7 tube. It was done without the tone control (always on)
  • TH custom 5-band EQ (always on)
  • Jon's Bearhug Compressor
  • madbeans Porkbarrel (CE2-Chorus)
  • madbeans SeaUrchin (Delay)
  • TH custom reverb V4
  • TH custom Processor V4.1(Filter/Splitter/Mixer) (always on)
  • TH custom balanced Line Driver (XLR-Out) (always on)

here are the steps of creation:

Laser engraved in the fitting test:

From the inside. Switch wiring:

From the outside. Knob color samples:

From the inside: Switches replaced with Effect Control Unit:

Knob colors and LED colors choosen by customer:

A look at the splitter/mixer jacks. You can loop in other effects here and mix them in or you can add a secon guitar or whatever ...

Backside with In/Out and XLR-Out. Power jacks are connected to allow chaining other devices.

Live on Stage! Look down at the feet of the guitar player.

That's impressive!

A lot of work went into that!

Very impressive build. I love the gold knob choice also with the purple EQ. That laser etch came out great also. I bet you have a very happy customer.

flawless execution, but then again...just what I expect from anything you do, so no surprises there

Very cool stuff! Personally, I would have chosen the white knobs or even better aluminium knobs ($$), but as long as he is happy, you're happy :)
I build pedals to hide my lousy playing.

Absolutely fantastic job, Thomas! Speechless....! :o
Haha,
Look at your contest build. Much cleaner wiring there :-)

A truly inspirational build. I'd love to see the guy's electric guitar rig - it must be HUGE.

Mind you the Pork Barrel isn't even straight...

...(only joking)

...and then of course I've got this terrible pain in all the diodes down my left hand side...

What switches are you using? In some pictures they look like 3dpt's in some they look like momentary switches

By any means a super build though Thomas and you know that, really cool, really clever anbd great concept!
The customer must be completly over the moon.
How does the tube driver go with the acoustic guitar?
I'm looking forward to start using your ueberswitch soon in my builds 8)
Cheers for such great projects and the 10 band eq that I have in my multi build is two of your 5band eqs in a row as you probably already noticed.
Great stuff!

He doesnt play electric, he doesnt like it. There is another electric guitar player in the band which played one of my Rats through the whole gig using a hollowbody electric.
The first picture wwas taken with loose nuts :-)

The 3PDTs were swapped out with momentary switches. They made too much noise.

How does the tube driver go with the acoustic guitar?
We did a pre-test and did run the quitar signal diretly in to the recording interface and parallel trough the tube into it.
It was amazing to hear the difference. The tube added that warm character we all love.
And I noticed the 10band EQ  ;D
