First fuzz face: transistor choice questions

Hello guys

so i'm finally building my first fuzz face, using the mangler pcb.
i have some basic questions about the choice of transistors.

If i wanted to check that the circuit is working, could i use some generic silicon PNP, which should be easier to bias. then once it works move to the weird ge that i have, or is it biased for GE transistors?

i see that small bear and some other sellers provide resistor values with the transistors, are the one in the mangler good (for Q1) or should they be adapted?

for the moment, my build produces no sound at all and i couldn't identify the reason yet (checked real fast yesterday evening)

what information should i take to get ideas from you guys?
voltages at EBC for all transistors? with the transistors in or out?
what else?

thanks

kgull

For your first fuzz face I'd use the resistors you get from smallbear. Never had a build that didn't sound great that way. Ge trannys can be finicky and for your first build it's always nice to have it work the first time, then worry about playing with different values.
