This is my first build and i can figure out what this is. I know its a pot but im not sure what kind

Looks like a potentiometer to me. 2MB 9mm or 16mm. Solder lug or PCB mount.

Very valid question, not stupid at all!

B=Linear
A=Audio (Logarithmic or Log)
C=Reverse audio
W=whacko (ok, I just made that one up. It's a strange taper most known to tube-screamer tone pots)
Gordy Power
How loud is too loud?  What?

I'd use a 5mb, though. It has more storage capabilities. :)

W-taper pots generally have a notch at the midway point too. The taper is reverse log to 50%, then log from there to 100% IIRC

I've had a hard time finding the B2M pots.  I wonder (for cost sake) if a B1M would work instead.

I like to blame it on lack of coffee. :]

By any chance is this for the analog bit crusher? If it is, a 1 meg pot is fine, perhaps better as I never use more than a third of the rotation with the stock 2M. I know it says as much in the picture, but in my experience the extended range isn't worth the price of shipping the necessary pot.
