you're absolutely right
nothing else about the music ? :p
I've had my last few days continuously interrupted by an ongoing DIY furnace repair (finally completely fixed), so I've only been able to listen to about half of it so far, but I think it's pretty incredible. I'd love to see them in person.
I totally agree: for me it's literally mind blowing: listening to this makes me so energized i jump all around and get aboslutely crazy. All parts are powerful and beautiful, beyond words, and the polyrythms used are really incredible.
Tigran is an amazing piano player (as in he played beatles and led zepplin songs when he was 3, and was noticed by world class jazz musicians such as herbie hankcock, wayne shorter and others when he was 12, try to read the wikipedia page about him, and/or look for 'tigran hamasyan documentary' on youtube). He basically has everything: energy, technique, classical feel, incredible jazz phrasing, mastery of complex rythms, incredibly beautiful compositions, integration of traditional music, complete freedom, and most importantly, musicality and taste.
If you like this, you can listen to the project played in this concert on spotify, it's called shadow theater, and i find that all the other albums are also great, even if more jazz oriented (long solos, no singing). The one i particularly like at the moment is called 'red hail', he basically mixes jazz parts with huge polyrythmic riffs played on the piano, doubled by a metal guitar.. mind blowing again..
Glad someone else likd this music ...
