I meant the third column of pins on the 3pdt, left unused if the switch is wired as Millennium Bypass

I really don't want to believe this is true, but I kinda think it is.  :'(

And I mean I'd like to think the pedal buying world is more informed than that - I really don't give a crap what JHS does.

Bypass is over-rated anyway. Just leave all the pedals on all the time I say.
