This should be an extremely simple modification but unfortunately is not working! All I'm looking to do is to switch between two pairs of diodes: germanium and zener. On the schematic, the cathodes are common to each other while the anodes are connected to R9 and R10. Using a DPDT ON-ON switch, I drew up and implemented this switching scheme but doesn't work at all - anyone care to double check that this is correct? It works with a pair of diodes in the stock configuration minus the switch. Going mental over here! Much appreciated!!

Switching sometimes baffles my brain.  My gut says maybe try something like this:

It works!! I was so close! Thanks a ton Ralfg!!

Awesome glad you got it working.  What do the zener diodes do to the sound?

The problem with your first switching scheme is that your bypassing the diodes in both directions of the switch, effectively connecting R9 and R10 regardless of switch position. Glad you and Ralfg got it sorted! I find it's helpful to trace over switching layouts in both positions of the switch using a highlighter or in paint or something, that way you can see what's really going on and basically trace out the circuit as if the switch wasn't there.
