Buff enclosure clear coat?

Do you all buff or do a finish wet sand one you're applied your clear coat? I have two enclosures drying. I used some Rustoleum Painter's touch X2 clear like shown below. The clear came out good with no real imperfections but I wanted to know if you buff the finish before assembling the pedal.

Usually requires a good length of time, days, for the finish to set up before you dare buff.

I used to cut back with some 1800/2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper, and then use a polishing compound.
But then I got lazy. Three coats of Upol or Spraymax 1k gloss clear and I'm done.

I'll sometimes use a polishing compound (like a light car polish) if the clear coat came out a little rough. I don't do any sanding; I've found it's too easy to burn through the clear coat and mess up the decal or paint.
