The schematic I have calls for a 100pf in parallel with a 1M resistor across pins 9 and 10 of the CD4049. All I have on hand is 120pf. Is that close enough?

That capacitor determines the second gain stage, but I don't think going from 100pf to 120pf will make a big difference, you should be fine to use 120pf.

Those caps only reduce hi freqs in gain signal - the higher values, the lower amount of high (noise hiss, HF freqs) in signal with high gain. It cal pretty "round" output signal freq curve. Try 2n2 instead and you will see :@)

I will have to try that ;). I plan on using it with a Bass, so is there a value you recommend? Heck, while I asking, what are your feelings about the 68nf cap at the input. Do you feel that this value is "Bass friendly"?

You can choose values as you need. See characteristics for 68nF and 470nF at input and 2n2 in feedback.

You can even set this feedback cap with trim (pot):
