Hi.
Just scouring eBay for some bits and came a bit stuck. I'm building a Thunderpuss boost and need a 1n cap but when I search for them 99% of the results are 1n5. Will these work? I can find some greenies that are 1n but in the build report photos I've looked at no one seems to use them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

have you tried searching for 1000pf caps instead of 1nf?

where are you from?  we can probably post some links for you.

Guybrush

Oh yeah of course! Begginers mistake.
I'm from Brighton in the UK. Any links would be great thanks.

If you're in the UK, Bitsbox is cheap and easy

1n 5mm polybox caps here
http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/polyfilm.html

I use the 1n greenies, they're fine for most things.

If you can get an order together then go the tayda route http://www.taydaelectronics.com/
Otherwise its doctortweek.co.uk or bitsbox for small orders in the UK.

Guybrush

That's all great. Thanks people!

theres also CPC who i have used for quite a few things previously.  The site is similar to mouser for navigation, but you can get the hang of it.  metal film resistors are reasonable from CPC too.

Bad points....There is vat, postage and handling charges added at the checkout but it works out reasonable for larger orders.   And their delivery service is excellent, almost always within 24-48hours.

While were on the subject of UK based suppliers: Can anyone recommend a decent yet affordable soldering iron?  I'm currently using a butane powered one which I bought from Maplin but it's incredibly unreliable.

I've bought some soldering stuff from here:
http://www.soldering-shop.co.uk/

They have quite a good range.
