Debugging Egodriver

So I've completed my first pedal, an Egodriver. And all I get when I plug it in and turn it on is noise. It'd be a great help if you could help me find out what went wrong  .

Here are the specs for my configuration:

1: For resistors I've followed the documentation completely using carbon resistors.
2: Every capacitor I used is as directed, however lacking tantalum, I used polyester.
3. I've use the exact diodes and I did the LED mod which lights up when I flip the CLIP switch.
4. I've soldered the exact pots, and switches directly to the board(brought from the online store), except for the clip switch.
5. The transistors should be fine, exact type as specified.
6. I soldered the IC without a socket(which I should have done), but it should be OK since I'm using a 25-watt soldering iron.

When powered and set up, both LEDs come on, the mod LED when I flip the switch and the standard LED when I press the foot-switch.

As for probable causes, I'm considering the IC or a few bad joints.

Hi Johan,

Nice to see another convert! From the pictures you posted, a couple of things I can think of. You kept the leads on your components quite long, try to make sure they are not touching anywhere and shorting things out. Also, the solder joint of the output wire (on the board) looks like it could use some re-flowing and make sure nothing is shorting out on your 3PDT. Last, I can't really make out what kind of jacks your using, but it might be necessary to ground the output one as well.
This is what I can think of, but I'm not really experienced in this, so you might want to wait for the experts here to take look. They know so much and are more than willing to help. BTW, Johan sounds like you could be dutch?

The Egodriver is my fav overdrive I hve built so far. Once you get sorted you will love it.

I think likely issue is your soldering technique in general. I beleive you have WAY to much solder globbed on, especially on your 3pdt switch. You will certainly get solder bridges and shorts overdoing the solder. Here is a pic of a decently soldered switch to give you an idea.

Thanks for the help I'll check out the leads, output wire, and the possibility of a ground error and check back. Also I'm American not really dutch at all, just a bit of a close approximation of my name I like using.

Thanks for the input and the image example. I wasn't completely sure about how I should have gone about the 3pdt switch and what you see is pretty much the outcome. I'll try to clean it up and redo it. Thanks!
