Hi all,

I'm wondering what do you think about a good effect for our bass player like OD or modulation pedal.
He wants to color is sound and get more dirt sometimes.

Since a lot of us are lead guitarist, I have no experience with effects for bass, I suppose the frequency response is a little bit different than a lead guitar.

So any suggestion will be appreciate a lot, thanks!

Build a Snack Shack with switchable tone caps.

I built 2 of them, one for my bassist and one for myself since it sounds very good with guitar and bass.
You can check my build reports:

It is a very simple build.
It sounds huge. No bass loss with the 100nF tone cap.

Haberdasher is offering etching services for this board:

Thanks mate,
So I gonna give a try to a Snack Shack.
Like that mojo inside it and to say more I prefer huge parts since my sight isn't the same when I was a teen  ;D

Good to know.
You can't be disappointed with a Snack Shack.
But just be aware it is a MONSTER FUZZ with a simple volume control.
I added a pre gain pot but it is still impossible to get light overdriven sound out of it.
I did just one thing but it did it very well !

Actually no, he plugs his bass straight into an Hartke 300W w/4x10 + 1x15.

Liustucru, ordered the board from Keefe. What is the value for the pre-gain pot?

Sounds like you already got something going, but if you are ever looking for a great bass OD, I can't recommend the Caitlainbread SFT enough (madbeans Faultline).

I built one for my band's bassist, and it kills.  It's discontinued, but Haberdasher etches them.
Actually, I used one of his etched boards for my build and it was awesome.

Thanks mates for help.
Yeah, I go first for a fuzz after getting the feel of our bass player. Obviously, he has to begin his quest for tone, hope he'll see some lights at this door... It's a long run as we know!

+1. the green russian kills it for bass, especially with the tone control bypassed

I have used a Fulltone BassDrive extensively (FullDrive variant essentially)- I loved it- not sure if there is a clone in the DIY community.

The Poindexter is absolutely crazy (in a good way) on bass. Probably the nastiest fuzz, but it really cuts through. I like it better on bass than guitar actually.

Of course you can't go wrong with a Green Russian Muff or a Woolly Mammoth/Sabertooth. Always good fuzzes. The Deadringer does pretty well on bass.

To all, thanks a lot  ;)
I'll let you posted on the results...
