just to stir the waters: I discovered yesterday that lollar makes a goldfoil in a P90 case: http://www.lollarguitars.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LGP&Product_Code=GoldFoilSoapBar

They are expensive though.

Yikes... I thought $250 for a set of PAF clones was rough...

MojoPickups is a wiser choice (in my opinion, have tried some lollars but never the mojos).
150 pounds for the pair: http://www.mojopickups.co.uk/gold_foils.php
They do custom soapbar cases too, I think.

I want to put the humbuckers in a gibson-caster I'm planning for my more and more frequent slide gigs.

Yeah, humcanceling is a thing I pretty much require if I'm gonna put new pickups in a guitar. I think I'm looking at Mini-Humbuckers first.

Mojo pickups do look super cool though. Very cool indeed.

That's what i wanted to grab at first, but the outrageous amount of output in a single coil package apparently makes them very mushy.

I do have a Warpig humbucker from them tho... one Br0000000tal pickup that is!

I had a little issue with this guitar that i just resolved the MacGyver way!

The pickups where a bit wiggly in the cavity, even if solidly attached to the mounting plate, that being threaded it still alows a bit of movement in the screw threads, not like in wood where you have it pressuring on the screw.

What was happening is that when i was touching the pickup or making it move in the cavity it would make a Tick, with delay on cleans it was unpleasant and same for high gain with noise gate as the tick would open the gate...

I simply used IC packaging foam and made a layer that is thicker than the space remaining under pickup when adjusted to height, that way it applies a bit of pressure under the pickup and keep it firmly in place. Ticking is no more.

I had seen that used in body mounted humbucker guitars and other stuff, but i thought i'd share.

I did that with my Cabronita -- the foam that the pickup came packaged in, in the space between pickup and body (to act as a spring.)

Missed this. I've run or heard just about every BKP P90 and the sweet spots are the stock and the slightly overwound P91 (no idea what that is on the current branding). The P92 was too full on in most things and the Pig90 really only did sludgy stuff.

Those ASL's that Rej has on the way was a result of me talking with Ash about this. So the initial wind is a hot P90, hopefully like the P91. It has a tap there, then a continuing wind in a different gauge wire to hopefully go much hotter but not go mushy. Apparently the Rev BFG has this sort of thing made by a winder in the states. Really looking forward to what Rej thinks of them. I've got a few of Ash's pups and they've all been pretty damned special.

...............And Future Shop went out of business today.  Half the stores closed immediately, the other half rebranded as Best Buys.  Guess that explains the Gibson fire sale.

Actually, bestbuy.ca is still blowing out the P90 Gibbys (both LP and SG), in fact, they're cheaper than the Epis on their site.
