Title: 1590A Drill Template
Post by: madbean on February 12, 2012, 12:51:18 AM
This is as close to a CAD drawing that one needs for hand drilling, I think. I've used this on a couple of boxes now and it seems to be correctly scaled. It has position markers for several pot layouts on the front face depending on what you are building. The scaled template is in the pdf file.

Fabulous!  I hate "eyeballing it" when drilling out the 1590A's.

Are those drill holes for in and out jacks are ok for these open ones? Like this one?

I would read this guide that Madbean put out for projects using 1590A enclosures. It is super helpful for these builds.

http://madbeanpedals.com/downloads/BabyBoardGuide.pdf

It has links to mono jacks that work well in 1590A's. Using standard 1/4" jacks can work with some projects depending on the size of the PCB but the drill template he supplied may or may not work with standard jacks. If you do end up using standard jacks double check the drill spots and and that you will have room for your PCB (i don't think enclosure is deep enough to have board and standard jacks overlap). I have seen some people bend a terminal on the output jack to squeeze it closer to the 3PDT thus making more room for the PCB.

I get good results using graph paper. It's easy to align and offers great flexibility with the layout.
