Title: Doppleganger 1.4
Post by: alanp on February 24, 2013, 05:48:11 AM
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t282/Gutstwohand/doptop_zpsf9d7f65e.jpg)

Standard 1590BB -- I got it from Tayda, in fact.

It contains a Doppleganger.

Admittedly, not with enough room for the extra jacks that the Lovetone-size enclosures have. But if I wanted to and had a big enough enclosure this board could support them  :P There wasn't enough space anywhere else, is why the power connector is at the bottom. (Requests for batteries will only receive derision.

Sounds dead cool. Goodbye Ibanez PH-7.

Thought I'd post a Build Report, now that I have a working, boxed example.

Wow! That is a crazy big PBC. Did you buy that board or design it yourself? I want one!!! I think you could squeeze this DC jack pretty much anywhere on that thing:

They are my favorite 9VDC jacks and I finally found them in the USA! They are kind of expensive though...

Nice build alan, and great job on that layout!  There'll be plenty of interest in any spare boards, I should think!

More depth, I'd say -- the Tayda ones top out at 500k dark, from memory, the spec is for 2M dark.
Title: Re: Doppleganger 1.4
Post by: the3secondrule on May 27, 2013, 08:43:48 AM
More depth sounds good - i'm liking it now, but I'd like to have to ability to take things a little crazier...

don't seem to have any dual LFO action though - the two external leds flash at different rates on dual mode, but i'm not getting any dual phasey insanity.
I'm hoping the futurlec LDRs will sort that too...

The external LED's are on the same feeds as the internal ones, so you should be  ???

Change the Span (depth) pots for 2k, and get the right LDRs, otherwise you wont hear the HF span particularly well (if at all) in dual mode.

Sweet, the LDRs are ordered. If that doesn't sort things, ill try upping the span pots.

Will get up a build report once I'm 100% happy

Hey guys,

Another weird question...

I was just about to finish populating the board with the LDRs and green LEDs, when I noticed something weird about the pads for the LEDs. The pads/silkscreening contradict one another if I'm looking at it correctly... it has the square/positive pad on the "flat" side of the LED silkscreening... can someone double-check with a working completed build double-check that I'm doing this correctly? Do I follow the pads or the silkscreening? Does the negative or positive leg go in each of the square holes? (I would think positive, but again... silkscreening shows the flat side as the positive side, which I thought always was the negative side of the LED.)

*confused in California*

(PS - I posted to the other Doppelganger build report thread, sorry for the spam)

Post by: alanp on June 23, 2013, 10:50:40 PM
Photos in the first post show flat/negative (big tab inside the LED itself is negative, small tab is positive).

Socket the LED's if you're not sure.

Both our boards are now built. It'll just be a while before they're boxed. Trying to tie down the clock noise at the moment, we've made some definite improvements, but it's going to be a couple of weeks before we get another chance to play with these.
